Ok, here we go on something a little different. El Corillito is a kids section I created back in my Primera Hora newspaper days. The concept was simple; it was an entertainment magazine for kids, covering from video games to movies, to cartoons, it was like Wizard magazine meets entertainment weekly. The concept behind El Corillito was character based on Puerto Rican animals, with names taken from Puerto Rican or Hispanic celebrities (although the name has nothing to do with the character, like in the case of Ricky Coqui... he's not a spoof on Ricky Martin, it's just the name). To top it all off I made it identifiable by creating them with attitudes and stereotypes taken from Puerto Rican youth culture. They weren't a cartoon, of a strip. They were just your hosts to the "world of entertainment". The covers put them either interacting of taking part of the cover story... as I'm sure you've noticed by now...

It was a sweet deal, but it didn't last. So after the newspaper deal fell, I kept the copyright and went indy with them. Unfortunately things here in P.R. work a little differently than in the rest of the world, and finding investors or clients to advertise on the web site or magazine was a bitch... so that died out too. Well, not dead entirely, so hopefully you'll see them again some day... There one of my babies, so I won't let them die!!!
