Description
Beautiful clothing wants to be worn. With this one, I wanted to create a "naughty tentacles" feel but with living clothing instead of tentacles.
This was my twenty-fifth patron-sponsored work which I posted to my patrons on November 8th, 2015.

What i think i like the most about your drawings is that you can see the thought process put into them. You don't have this technical template for making your characters in an almost identical pose for each drawing. There is posing, positioning, angle and even lighting that always finds their way into your art and makes every piece so much more different than the last.
In this pic i like the flow. You can see the image moving in a horisontal plane. This gives the picture an even stronger sense of progression. You can see the present and quite a bit of whats to come.
Something that might have lifted the picture even more would have been a glimpse or indication of the past. Why is this happening and from where are the clothes coming from? It is something that is up for interpretation and the mystery intrigues me
Great work as always.

Thank you! I put a lot of effort into making the poses dynamic and not using the same poses too often. An active pose, a pose in motion, makes the characters more alive. Plus, you don't get better at arting unless you make yourself keep doing new things, especially whatever things you don't like doing because they're unfamiliar and difficult.

You are so right!
Nothing is as motivating as getting something new an untried right. Or as unmotivating as getting it wrong the tenth time

"Every artist has thousands of bad drawings in them and the only way to get rid of them is to draw them out." -Chuck Jones
But I also keep in mind something that I think Charles Schulz said. I forget the exact quote but it was along the lines that it's okay if today's drawing isn't very good because you're going to make another one tomorrow.

Both very true. But these do require a great deal of motivation for creating. As a casual artist (read "lazy") I lack the motivation to power through these blocks and end up taking extensive breaks.
I do adminre your motivation and passion for drawing. May I ask what it is that drives you?

Money.
Seriously, though, I don't know if there's really an answer to that. If you're really an artist, you can't help making new art all the time. If you're a real writer, you can't help writing every day. If you're a real musician, you can't help making music every day. It's like breathing. Or sex. An instinctive need. Or maybe an addiction or compulsion.
For me, it's not just drawing. If I'm not drawing, I'm modeling or sewing or sculpting or programming. I can't stop. When I need to make something, it's like there's a hole in the world that only I can see and I have to fix it.
What it comes down to is that the drive to create is what drives people to create. I know that's a tautology but that's really the best answer I can give.
Where does that drive come from? I don't know if you're just born with that drive or if it's something that you cultivate. Or maybe a side effect of something else.
Although, really, money does make a difference. We all have bills to pay and my lovely patrons have allowed me to pay some of those bills by making the kind of things I enjoy making the most, rather than having to focus on things I enjoy less but which are more traditionally profitable.

Guess I can't decide what I Really am.
I program as well and play the guitar but nothing i do feels like an addiction. Involving money in it would only stress me out.
Time will tell I guess
Thanks for talking to me. You give interesting and honest answers.

Yeah, I don't know how I would label myself, really. I just like to make fun things. (Even my programming is limited to game-making.)
For me, it depends on how I involve money in it. That's why I can make comics that I write myself and I can do Patreon but I do NOT do commissions. Too much people-interaction anxiety problems.

I guess I'm just limiting myself ^^
Cool, somehow i had the impression you did commissions. I totally get that you don't, id get the same anxiety..
How does that patreon thing actually work? Do you commit to creating a certain amount of drawings for a time period or something?

DovSherman In reply to PetnaMeds [2015-12-06 23:40:48 +0000 UTC]
There are two styles of patreon: per-month or per-work.
If it's per-month, patrons pledge to pay you a set amount every month. It's common for per-month creators to promise a specific number of works each month but it's not a requirement. It depends a lot on what kind of stuff you're making, too.
If it's per-work (which is what I use), patrons pledge to pay you a set amount for each piece you post. Each patron can also set an upper limit on how many pieces they will pay for so, if you do a lot, it won't make them go over-budget. I prefer this style because I can do more work if I need more money but, if I have a month like this one, when I probably won't be able to do much, if anything, my patrons won't have to pay me for work I don't do so nobody feels like they're being taken advantage of.
I usually make about seven works per month but that's not a promise. It's just the average number I seem to do. I might do more or less in the future. Either way, the number of pledges paid adjusts to match.

How much of the profit goes to patreaon?

Although keep in mind that my numbers for declines seems to be unusually high. Other creators have been telling that they never see declines that high.

That sounds fishy.. Ho no one is abusing the service :/

DovSherman In reply to PetnaMeds [2015-12-07 16:02:28 +0000 UTC]
Oh, there's always someone out there somewhere who will abuse things. But my current list of declines is mostly people who have paid before. In fact, they're some of my most generous patrons. So I have good reason to trust that it's probably just a glitch which will be straightened out eventually.
