I thought about doing a short comic with this same basic idea at one point, but then I saw someone had beaten me to it and I realized that my idea wasn't as original or as clever as I might have originally supposed.Β And now the idea seems even more moot, knowing I couldn't draw it as well as this.

It's funny, I was just expressing this exact same frustration the other day as a writer, feeling a bit disgruntled when other writers run brilliantly with a concept I've been working on. I guess it makes me feel a little better knowing that artists have the same frustrations.
But Dov's right, we all put our own unique spin on the stuff we create, and I would definitely love to see your take on this theme!

Oh, pshaw. We are all mining same tropes and cliches in a very heavily trodden genre. A completely original concept is next to impossible. But that's okay. When you put your own spin on it, it becomes shiny and new again. And I, for one, would ADORE seeing your spin on this theme.

I love the concept, but have to admit (and don't take this as mean or angry criticism) your style has gotten so much more exaggerated over time. I miss the days when it was a bit more subdued like in this piece

I don't mind criticism. I know that nobody is perfect. But it would be more helpful if you could tell me more specifically what it is you liked about the older work compared to the newer work. What kind of exaggeration do you mean?

It's definitely style critiquing not quality. Your newer stuff everything just seems much...poofier? The sleeves on dresses, the breasts, cheeks, eyes, lips.Whereas Make-A-Dolly, DollxMaidxBunnygirl, Photobooth and Where Maids Come From all seem to be more realistic in style. The newer stuff is very, fairytale not just in the content but in the way the art is drawn.

When you say "fairy tale", are you thinking Disney? Is this about preferring, say, classic comic book proportions instead of Disney proportions?

Maybe? Can you not see the differences when looking at the pieces I mentioned side by side? I wouldn't say Disney specifically because I think of Pocahantas and a ton of other Disney stuff as pretty normal proportions. I just think you've done everything bigger/poofier lately. Hair, Lips, Eyes, Butts, Boobs, Hips. It's just more exaggerated. It's definitely a subjective preference and a lot of your followers probably love, I just like the slimmer more subtle stuff better.

And don't worry. I realize this is a subjective thing. For nearly every drawing I post, there's always at least one person who comments, "That's not really my thing." and someone else who comments, "This is the best ever thing ever and it is my absolute favorite of all time!"Β I don't try to tailor my style to any one person's preferences. I'm just very curious about them because sometimes talking about them can lead to interesting insights and sometimes that can lead to interesting variations to explore.
