The "art" of my former self, casi 2004-2005
Otherwise known as "ART I THOUGHT WAS THE SHIZ IN MIDDLE SCHOOL"
(Curiously, also around the time I joined dA on my first account ...)

I found this in my room when cleaning it out, and stuffed it in a box of "keepsakes." I was talking to Kristin yesterday when I remembered it, and I pulled it out and rediscovered my "art."

Honest to God, I though this crap was good. I mean, I always KNEW Kristin was better and was so jealous of her skills, but still. I was proud of this.

Here's the gist of what I though made a cool character design:
Pointed ears
Trenchcoat!
Weaponry (swords/staffs/more swords ...)
Tunics
Wings
Criss-crossed boots strings? Duh fuuuu are those things anyway?

I apparently didn't know anything about what clothes look like, either, because the majority of everyone in that sketchbook wore basic shirts and basic bottoms. Serious. And every one of them had a matching color scheme. Green shirt? Green shoes. Green hair.

I post this o encourage you all to dig up YOUR old art and share it with the world.

Because no matter how good you think you are (even if you don't admit it), you're GOING to look back and be ashamed.

(As a final note, I wish I could find the stuff I drew when I'd actually first started drawing "animu" crap. It all started when I saw my sister draw an "anime" portrait of her best friend, and for ages all I did was draw the same pose, same face of anime girl with different colored shirts and different hair spiking out of her horrifyingly pointy head. But I threw it all away.)
