When you get past NEWT level Muggle Studies you can do outside study on different parts of muggle life, like early muggle communities in the pre-colonial Americas and their relationship with the magical members of their community.
It's pretty fascinating. It turns out that they had a very harmonious symbiotic relationship. Muggles and witches/wizards in the indigenous community considered members of the magical community to be spiritual leaders, but every member understood their equality and importance to the community as a whole.
The colonials, when they arrived, rarely had any wizards in their parties and therefore none understood that the "shamans" or other priests/magic-doers of the native people were honest wizards.
The way they practiced magic is fascinating in its approach and connection to nature. Truly, it's unlike anything that originated in Europe, but sadly a lot of the tradition has been lost.
