Fantastic composition - lighting, tone, emotion, expression, contrast. For some reason, I get the feel of a Rembrandt colour pallet but with a post-modern subject.

To amuse the mighty Xerxes, a young man from Athens is captured and brought to the Persian's encampment. The Persian, known for his cruelty and imaginative tortures, cannot help but admire the Athenian Adonis standing, naked, before him. He rises and moves closer allowing his eyes to rake the appealing body so seductively displayed before him. He slowly walks around the bound man and marvels at the globes of flesh that defy gravity itself.

"Well my young Greek, before I conquer your land and that pathetic city of philosophers I will conquer you and I can promise you it will be most memorable. Bathe him and oil his body. When you are through, bring him to my private quarters."

The Athenian remains stoic and defiant and Xerxes should have noticed that the man, as well as Greece, would resist. Placing his large hand on one of the globes of flesh, the Persian whispers into the Athenian's ear..."I am looking forward to taking from you what you would never freely give another man. You and your wretched land will bow before me. Take him!"

Again, I find myself fantasizing about another photo. They are powerful and well thought out. I hope you don't mind being the star of my little fantasy. Be brave for tomorrow begins the battle of Thermopylae and Xerxes will have more pressing issues. Unfortunately, an exhausting night lies before you.
