Description
I heard a Disturbed song from the asylum album called the animal which became my inspiration for this. It took two weeks to complete. Β I just couldn't get the wolf realistic enough. I would enjoy all comments but I would really appreciate someone to really beat this up If you don't I will be thankful also. Thank you ahead to all who enjoy or don't for that matter.Related content

It was fun doing the background for this. I believe you are correct about the rest. It sucks this took 2 weeks to complete and so much is still wrong. The wolf was made from a ref pic I looked off of. It was tough to get. Him this far. I made 5 different versions also. I didn't want the log really to be so big in the picture. Β Once I made the background layer I didn't mess with it. When you said the grass wasn't tapered well, did you mean not make them from big at the bottom to a point at the top? Truthfully most of my time was put making that wolf the best I could. I am a working progress lol. Β Thank you for your time in critiquing this. I may see if I can fix more of this. Does it suck it takes me two weeks and this being the outcome?

It absolutely does not suck that it took you two weeks. The time it takes for an artist to complete a project is an insignificant matter, especially with fine art. While the faster an artist can work is considered by many to be more impressive, it doesn't matter how long it takes any artist to finish a piece as long as it comes out satisfying. Some artists will work on paintings, sculptures, books, musical pieces, etc, for years of their lives. Ultimately, the passion is in making the art. Finishing the art can come second.
this all applies a little differently if your working in production and have deadlines and whatnot. But for everything else, you can't rush art. Well, you can, but why would you want to?
It sounds like you've been working very, very hard on this.
yes, that is correct about the grass, but again, it's probably me just being ignorant or nitpicky about something.
at any rate, this piece is extremely impressive. I commend your dedication to improve! I'm worried I may be getting too comfortable with my own skill level. Or maybe I just rush my own art. Haha.
Keep this up. It's looking wonderful!

Thank you for that input. I will always try to seek improvement. It isn't a nitpick you have alone. I have been showing folks this all day and been picking it apart piece by piece. I wanted so much more out of it from what I had in my mind to what it became. Thank you for the favorite and your support. It is greatly appreciated.

No problem, man!
Hey, if it still isn't exactly as you envision it, keep working. Eventually, it'll manifest into what you're seeing and what you want it to express. For some of my works, I've had to do that for fifteen years (my record, to this day, actually). I can tell this piece holds so much promise!
And most importantly, have fun with working on it while the progress and the journey lasts. Stay excited about it. I really, really, really like it already.

Very nice piece! Β This sets a great mood. I really like the interesting technique you have of blurring the background elements when rendering the beams of light shining through the trees. It's not a technique I usually think of when doing light fields but I really like it. Sincerely, I do. It's unique and gives the piece a signature look. The depth and texture of the mist is very nice as well. You've captured the way the moisture flows in the air.
I do feel the ground elements could be improved a little. This is mostly a picky thing, but the grass doesn't look like it tapers enough (but then again, what do I know about grass?). The main thing for me is the piece of wood the wolf is stepping on. I can't clearly tell if it is a plank or a log. It appears very flat to me. I'm also not an expert on wolves and how they move, but the pose seems a little odd, especially the legs. The back legs look too close together for the front legs to be spaced apart like that. To me anyway. Maybe it's perfectly natural and I have no idea what I'm talking about.
You sincerely have a knack for observation and detail, but also the big picture of every piece you create.
On a side note, it's awesome how music inspires us to,see something new and awesome. I know the experience well.
