Description UPDATE!!! Finally I figured out how the color behind the text in the titlebar works!
- matching the color of the active titlebar: in the .theme file set the value of ColorizationColor=0XDAXXXXXX (replace the XXXXXX with the HEX value of your titlebar active color). In the .msstyle file go to Windows & Caption Buttons > Aero > DWM Window > Frames > Window > Top > Active and Windows & Caption Buttons > Aero > DWM Window > Frames > Window > Top > MaxActive and set COLORIZATIONOPACITY=0.
- matching the color of the inactive titlebar: in the .msstyle file edit Fonts, Colors, & System Metrics > Colors (Globals):
COLORIZATIONCOLOR=-YourColorValue. Then go to Windows & Caption Buttons > Aero > DWM Window > Frames > Window > Top > Inactive and Windows & Caption Buttons > Aero > DWM Window > Frames > Window > Top > MaxInactive and set OPACITY=0 and COLORIZATIONOPACITY=0.
Test it out to see if it works for you and give me a feedback.

I finally did it! What the hell did you do, may you ask???

Well in Windows 8.1 is almost impossible to use custom different colors for the Active and Inactive windows titlebar without having the "wonderful" colored square behind the titlebar text, something like this: img594.imageshack.us/img594/94…

So it took me more than 3 hours of trial and error to get the proper values for what you see in the screenshot. I wanted a dark active titlebar (#464646) and a light inactive titlebar (#D6D6D6).
Here are the settings I managed to find for this setup:
- VS settings:
Fonts, Colors, & System Metrics > Colors (Globals):
COLORIZATIONCOLOR=-328966 (=HEX ARGB: 0xFFFAFAFA)

- .theme file settings:
ColorizationColor=0XDA464646

I kept trying to find a logical rule behind these settings so anyone could use it but didn't succeed.

If anyone has an explanation or an idea about this let me know in the comments bellow.

Oh yeah... I will add this version of the VS to the Simplify 8 VS package once I have the final version.

I like this one even more than the light one.

thanks for the feedback G! I use more the Dark one than the light one. With the taskbar on top, it really blends nicely with the titlebar of maximized apps.

Very sexy theme. I'm glad to support talented guys like you.

The only thing I don't like and I also think they don't fit into Windows UI at all are the circled min/max/exit buttons.
Why can't those just be simple and flat grey buttons?

You see, everything in Windows UI evolves around sharp corners and rectangles. And then there are those 3 strange circles.
Also e.g. Google Chrome and a lot of other applications use there own window frames so I now have circles and the orignal icons on my screen.
That just doesnt fit.

Apart from that this theme is pure eyecandy and I love it. Thank you

Thank you for your support! As you can see the circles are not the only round graphical elements in this theme. The theme is all about contrast: round and square. The top corners of the windows are rounded and the bottom are square. And you can see the circles/squares motif all throughout the UI. This is my vision and idea of this theme. I didn't just put circles there randomly. And the circles are grey and flat buttons.
The windows UI might just be about square corners but I dont like it. It feel cold, aggressive, unfriendly... That's why I created this theme, to give windows a different feeling.

If you want to edit the theme feel free to do it as long as you don't publish it after.

Nice! I know that must have taken ages to get just right.

Yeah and we have to thank Microsoft for their "logical" thinking. They really don't seem to understand the concept "if it ain't broken, don't fix it!".

Yeah I for one hate having this white color of inactive windows. They should have just made it a more gray color that's easier on the eyes. Though using aero glass for win8 takes care of all that. Though, I have to deal with the text it puts on the desktop, which I don't mind. It would be nice if in the next iteration of windows they took into consideration that some people like to use dark colors. I for one would even be satisfied if the taskbar was independent of the window color.

They could do more than that... give the home user a chance to really customize their windows experience.

Yeah. Just allow third party themes like ubuntu and other linux distros do natively. That way my partition doesn't break every windows update.

Nice! I have been pulling my hair out editing a theme with this exact issue, the inactive windows constantly have a stupid highlighted color on the text.

Tell me about it! The problem still remains since I wasn't able to find a logical rule to do it. And it took me that much time to make it work using tones of gray. Imagine if you have color how hard can this shit be!
I'm telling you, Micr oshit is screwing with us themers on purpose. They just hate us for doing a better job at theming Windows. If I can help you, let me know

I found a logical explanation... well kinda... for how to setup the color behind the text in the titlebar. Checkout the main description!

Sorry I just saw this reply!  Looks awesome man, I also bought your theme!  I also noticed you fixed the issue most VS have for Win8 when you right click an item on the taskbar, great job man.
