Description The title of this piece is the name of the cathedral in the background. The cathedral was built on the spot where Russian Emperor Alexander II was mortally wounded in 1881. If you want to see the real cathedral you will need to go to St. Petersberg, Russia. If you want to learn more about Russian history, read a book, preferably one that implies that there will be something about Russian history inside.

11x14 drawn with a micron pen and a sharpie.

Some of the smaller details keep catching my eye, such as the speckled texture to the wall on the left, or how reflective the leftmost dome looks... I know I had seen this before, but must've missed ing it.

Great job. I've been to Spas na Krovi, it's a haunting place. I also find it interesting that you would combine such a carefree element such as nudity with the rather restrictive and proper nature of the cathedral. Lovely image, fantastic detail.

Anyone can ink like me, just takes practice.

Yeah, inking and watercolors are my MAJOR weak spots. I think part of the problem with my inking is that the pens I have suck.

Ugh! I totally suck at watercolors, and I never really cared enough about it to want to improve.

So what type of pens do you use?

I like watercolor cause it's so much softer than acrylic, although it's hard to control. I'm trying to get prisma or copic markers cause then I can get a softer look without watercolor, or CG.

That's funny I definately prefer acrylics to watercolors. If you really like the softer look I would recommend copics over prisma markers.

Okay cool thanks. I like acrylic a lot, I just find it hard to make soft lines with it. I'm not good enough to make high grade pics with only watercolor. I have to use colored pencils and then kind of blend them with watercolor pencils.

You are from Kiev? I visited Russia in the summer about ten years ago. There was a lot of rain, very beautiful. There is nothing quite like skipping down Arbat street in the rain. Unfortunately I never made it to Ukraine while I was there, and although I wasn't born in Russia I do miss it sometimes.

kiev is reslly beautiful and almost all my memories of it is of rain and me as a little kid loving the pudles. i hope to go back to visit and maybe one college is over to live. but ur pic reminded me of it so much. although i have been to Russia and Moskva, and that is what the buildings u drew are like, the round roofs look like the churches all over there. i dono the land there seams to breath differently, not just the people and well it nothing like here america dose not have enough old history for me.

Hopefully someday I will be able to visit Kiev. Funny how the history of a place effects the overall feeling of being there. It is really hard to describe how it feels to someone who has never been there. I'm glad you like my drawing and that it sparks such fond memories for you.
