Description
Some of these are more medium arms and this is not a complete listing of the concepts. Some aren't really concepts either but old fashion making a come-back.The first one is compact Coil Rifle (electo-mag) with a sonic knife slung under the barrel/sighting laser
Believe it or not Shotgun's are still in service. When lasers, mag-coils, and plasma-injectors fail you will want something like this as a back-up.
With HE, AP, Grenade, Frag and even more exotic loads it's more then formidable as a main weapon. Especially with a drum-fed semi-auto attachment.
Tactical Tomahawk and a combat knife are always old standbys.
The big-boy at the bottom is a plasma-rifle What looks like a clip is a heavy duty battery. When operating in vacuum it has it's own Gas pack that is attached below the wielder's air tanks.

The pistol, with or without mods, can also be usrful. Easy to conceal. Though I wouldn't recommend stuffing it down the front of your pants.

The only thing really different is the swappable ammo holder and some of the shells make buckshot look like rocksalt-shot

On a sidenote, the plasma rifle should in my opinion have an energy connection point to hook it up to an external energy source. Both for extended firing and for recharging emptied batteries/magazines from a stationary powersource without having to carrying around a dedicated charger/adapter.

Carbon Nanotube battery packs. The plasma is created by compacting atmosphere and exiting it to plasma.

Yeah, i understand that. All it need is power and any kind of atmoshphere to function. But even the best batteries will run dry eventualy and that is when you could use a built-in charger in the weapon. Just plug it in the weapon port and the other end in a wallsocket or a generator and the battery in the weapon will recharge.
Or you can switch to direct use, meaning you can use the rifle as a support weapon, laying down a constant stream of plasma without having to change the battery magazine at all. Ofcourse itΒ΄s a bit hard to move while connected to a generator, so you sacrifice mobility untill you pull the cord and go back to batteries.
Just my two cents.

Might be more of a Vehicle mounted weapon then.

*Shrug* Just giving an infantrymans point of view. Being able to reload from any kind of powersource rather than having to go back to HQ for more batteries would be right up there with "Waterproof everything" in the Grunts Wishlist.

The batteries look like standard ammo-clips, you might be able to attach at a Prefab Bunker station with a generator.

Psychological. Many Soldiers have have a Tomahawk for close quarters combat also useful for breaking down doors and stuff.
A think I saw something on Modern Marvels about the Axe that might explain it better.

You forgot the grenade-on-a-stick, lol.
It looks like a spear with a grenade on the end, and you use it to fight enemies protected by Dune-style "slow blade" force fields. You stick the grenade through their shield and set it off. The best part is, the shrapnel is contained within the force shield and gibs out the wearer without hurting anyone else.
