Description
Here was a painting I did for class. I'm not really the best painter, but when it comes to just blocking in the colors rather than form, I think this came out rather well.Related content

Yeah, I'm not so good at painting either, my sister holds the talent there, but I think you did a great job at depicting the folds in the cloth

Oh! That looks smashing! I love fabric with folds like that. Sorry, can't think of the term. XD

I know it doesn't seem very fun when art teachers tell us to do that kind of stuff, but it's actually really helpful later on when you're doing your own thing.
I got some of the best drawing advice from one of the art teachers that I liked the least. "Draw what you see, don't draw how you think it's supposed to look, just draw what you see." I still don't feel like I have a handle on doing that yet myself, but it gives me something to strive for.
I'm sorry for how long this post is, you just reminded me of how frustrated I used to get in those classes, and how useful that stuff was eventually (even though it was annoying as heck.)
Keep it up, you're doing good.

Not a problem, I had the same thing. My teacher who taught me structure would always be like "STRUCTURE TYLER! STRUCTURE!" and even when I draw vorish things, I still hear him in the back of my head, and I remember to add the little details in. :3 Anyways, that's all.
