Description Here's the first of many drawings that I did for the Illustration program. The challenge was to design Dr. Frankenstein's Laboratory anyway we want. We had to include character designs of the characters as well. For Frankenstein, I wanted to make him comically short, for a guy who was building a big monster. I wanted Igor to be a sort of teenager who just hung around the lab, and for some reason, I made him gay, and attracted to the monster's body. The lab was a little hard to do. It's weird to think of what you could add as a base, and then add little details like lights or bricks.

Comments, and especially critiques, are so welcome. I'd love your feedback guys!

This a fun piece, the lair is interesting - reminds me of Batman (the old super camp TV series not the modern movies) though its a lot more sober in colour than the brilliantly coloured lairs of the Joker and the Penguin. Igor and Frankenstein are great - the assistant is far more sinister than the batty doctor!

The weak part for me is the monster, which is really weird as beasties are your gig! He seems a little flat, the head especially looks like a mask that Igor could as easily put on himself as he could on the headless body. I think what you might have done is pick a slightly different point in the monster's creation, either earlier when he was in several pieces, or perhaps better at the moment of his 'birth' when he's being shocked by lightning or just after when he could be doing something actively for himself (roaring, flirting with Igor, etc!)

Hope that helps!

First off, thanks for the critique! Second, thanks for being the only one who even commented. I see what you mean, about the monster being kinda inanimate and mask like. Anyways, thanks so much!

So what does the Monster think about Igor eye-molesting his body?

He's upset, but then again, what can he do?

Nothing until he gets attached.
Though I wonder if he's going to punish Igor, or just make him pay for all the teasing.

Well, it's kinda evil to tease back... damn, now you got me thinking about this pairing. D8

Ha ha ha ha ha! >
(I like the idea that the Scientist is just completely oblivious to the whole thing)

I love the character design you have here, all three seem good, especially the two humans. It's a really good piece, I like the sky at the very top, I dunno, it just seem like a nice touch.

Typical you to have slime and stuff in your piece though, not that I am saying that's bad. I really like it, the design of the setting is really good, you have set the mood of the place really well.

Thanks so much! Well, it was free form to do my own take, and I do love slime. XD

It seems like the monster doesn't share Igor's feelings lol

Not at all. He wants to keep his head in the right place.
