I love your anatomy!! He's built in a sound manner, right down to his toes-- he'd probably work if he were real. He's very expressive, too, but again, you kept realism in his face and didn't over-exaggerate. Whether this goes to scraps or not, I'm favoriting it and giving you a hearty pat on the back.

It would have made the piece seem ironically macabre, yes. Just like writing, any little additon or subtraction affects the overall tone and interpretation of the piece.
