In the game Team Fortress 2, one class, the Spy, can disguise himself as an enemy character by wearing a mask like the one in this picture. Of course to the enemy team, he actually appears as the character he's impersonating, not some a-hole with a cheap paper mask.
So he pretty much pretends to be your ally and then stabs you in the back...quite literally.
