As for the variety factor you were talking about,
could always play more with the physical aspects of characters. Tall, sleek, tiny, ect. Can also vary facial proportions like you did with that one character you made for your brother

Hmm, good idea! I've played with that in the past (all those character references I posted last summer), but I'll try to focus my studies on that I don't want to go into the absurd, but maybe having more distinctions is the way to go

Oh, while I'm at it, a recent videeo of Proko Panko brought to my attention an interesting technique:
The Reilly abstraction method
Proportions and circles are used to create a structure out of what you've already drawn based on anatomical references.
From what I can see, it's used to check that everything is set in place properly, for quick modification of abstract, simpler shapes
I'm gonna be trying to find ways to use it on other things than human faces, see what I can get
It looks...

.
Reilly useful.

Hmm, interesting! And an interesting channel as well, thanks for pointing it out. While caricatures is not what I'm aiming for, there seems to be alot of good stuff in there, so I'll watch a few vids for sure
Oh, and the puns.... Please... They hurt so much...

Y'know, if I could weaponize puns, the world would have been taken over already
Yeah, his videos are really informative, and in the worst of cases, they're still usable as references for relative proportions, and it seems to be a reliable enough source.
Saves the trouble of sifting through Google and trying to figure out whether the biceps brachialis is actually a thing & all
