Description Another meme for you guys to check out. This one is on the characters we like that are unfortunately not given much love by others, whether it be from the fandom or from the creators themselves. Keep in mind that underappreciated does not mean that they're hated. So the gist of the list is that it will be one character per franchise, can even include subdivisions. Anyway, let's get going.

#10: Vector the Crocodile (Sonic the Hedgehog)
He doesn't seem to be given that much credit within the fanbase. Most often he is not as acknowledged as the other members of Team Chaotix, which is a shame really, cause to me, Vector is pretty cool. Sure he may be loud and obnoxious, but he's got a head on his shoulder, is the leader of his detective agency, and also, crocodiles rock!

#9: Bunnie Rabbot (Sonic the Hedgehog SatAM)
I have to say that Bunnie Rabbot seems to be the most overlooked character of the Freedom Fighters, despite Tails not being given as much showtime as he does in Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. Bunnie Rabbot is cute, fun, optimistic, and cheerful, and her Southern accent also sells it well. I don't know why, I'm just a sucker for characters with Texas accents like Applejack and Sandy, so Bunnie would be no exception. My guess to why she's not given much notice is because she's from Sonic SatAM and the Archie Comics. Then again, there's a lot of fans who know characters like Sally Acorn, Antoine, Rotor, and so on.

#8: Claude Cat (Looney Tunes)
One of my favourite cartoon cats from my childhood who appears in a few Looney Tunes shorts directed by the legendary Chuck Jones. Claude may not be as well-known or admired as much as his contemporaries Tom and Sylvester, but he's got plenty of funny yet sympathetic moments. He is often the butt of the cruel antics inflicted by the mice duo Hubie and Bertie, then constantly scared by the hyperactive puppy Frisky. The only times he comes off as mean is in the shorts where he's teamed up with Marc Anthony and Pussyfoot, in which he tries to be the favourite over the little kitten but gets beaten up by the bulldog. So that's Claude, a pretty cool cat that sadly doesn't get much spotlight.

#7: Meowth (Pokémon)
Well, honestly, I feel Meowth tends to be unfairly at disadvantage, not just in the games, but most definitely in the anime. The reason for that is because the most well-known Meowth is none other than Team Rocket's. Often he gets zapped and humiliated by Ash's Pikachu in his many attempts to capture him to give to his boss Giovanni, and that gag, while it may have been funny the first few times, it gets old and tiresome. Doesn't help the fact that Pikachu is seen as the main mascot of Pokémon. Would be nice if the Meowth Pokémon line could get a bit more respect and love from the fandom.

#6: Leopold "Butters" Stotch (South Park)
Poor Butters never gets any slack in the show. Every single time he's prominent, he gets scorned and ridiculed by his peers (especially Cartman), punished and abused by his own parents for the most trivial reasons, and is usually the one to get all kinds of misfortunes. The final kicker is that his birthdate is established to be September 11th, which there's no need to go into any detail regarding that date. I don't blame him for making his villainous Professor Chaos alter-ego. He gets just as much of a bad treatment as Meg Griffin from Family Guy.

#5: Giran (Dragon Ball)
This guy doesn't get as much showtime in Dragon Ball, or even Dragon Ball Z, for that matter. All we see from him is that he gets to battle kid Goku in the semi-finals for the title of Champion in the World Martial Arts Tournament, but ultimately surrenders when he realised Goku was too strong, then he helps him wreck a dam that was causing a drought which was just a filler scene, and finally fights Tambourine but gets killed very easily by the mutated Namekian. He gets revived after King Piccolo's defeat, but he isn't mentioned afterwards.

#4: Soto (Ice Age)
Has anyone ever wondered what became of Diego's former friends? I mean, after the first movie, never does Diego nor the other characters talk about his old sabre-tooth tiger clan in the sequels, and goodness knows if they'll ever be brought back should Fox and Blue Sky Studios make an Ice Age 5. Soto had been one of the most memorable antagonists, well, the same can be said for the other tigers too, cause given that they were only angry that their species was wiped out by the Neanderthals, it shows that they're not truly malicious, and although Soto died, the other tigers have possibly survived, so there's a chance for them to redeem themselves.

#3: Spike (My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic)
There's no denying that Spike is made none other than to be ridiculed and treated like an outcast by practically EVERY SINGLE PONY in the show. Almost every episode he is either brushed off into the sidelines or made to feel like he means nothing to his supposed friends. Even Twilight Sparkle, Rarity, and Fluttershy (of all ponies) tend to treat him badly in many episodes, which is out-of-character for all three of them. In several episodes (which I prefer not to name), he gets treated even worse. On top of that, they made him into a dog in that god-awful Equestria Girls series. All I can sum up about MLP is that while it may be a good show (even though I don't watch it), it is very biased towards non-pony characters, particularly dragons as most of them are portrayed as evil monsters that only want to kill whatever they see. Talk about generic and stereotypical. Not to mention that it is also biased towards the male gender, as the message clearly brings that females are good while males are bad.

#2: The Koopalings (Super Mario Bros)
I feel that all seven Koopalings have to be acknowledged, even though my most favourites are Lemmy and Ludwig. You see, Shigeru Miyamoto has an unfortunate habit of "fixing" things that aren't broken, and for some reason, he considers the Koopalings being Bowser's kids as something that needs to be taken off in favour of Bowser Jr. Now, I have nothing against Bowser Jr., I think he's an okay character and I see him as the eighth Koopaling, but the thing is that Miyamoto seemed to make that oh-so brilliant idea of making the Koopalings not Bowser's children as a way of giving the middle finger to the people for not accepting Bowser Jr. Let's not also forget that one time he made that silly remark that he is Bowser Jr.'s "mother." To me, the Koopalings are still Bowser's kids, always has been, and always will be, and whatever Shigeru Miyamoto says about them, let alone Bowser himself, should be best ignored. They deserve better.

#1: King K. Rool (Donkey Kong Country)
I say it's high time that we all pay our respects to the Kremling King after knowing that he unfortunately didn't make the cut for the new Super Smash Bros. In all seriousness, Nintendo seems to be neglecting the poor guy by leaving him and the Kremlings out in the dust in the Donkey Kong Country Returns series, and they trolled us by first making him into a freaking Mii costume before finally axing him out completely. Anyone can pin the blame on the amount of Fire Emblem characters or Masahiro Sakurai, but I think the ones that are truly to blame are Nintendo themselves. I mean, they have Diddy Kong in their character roster, so there's no excuse that they wouldn't include King K. Rool as a playable character. In fact, he should be playable right from the get-go just like Bowser. Some people think it's because Nintendo created the Kongs while Rare created the Kremlings, but that's ridiculous since the Kremlings even appeared in post-Rare titles like Jungle Climber, Barrel Blast/Jet Race. Heck, they even appeared in Mario Super Sluggers! It's even false to say that King K. Rool's not that important when he is one of the most iconic video game villains next to Bowser and Dr. Eggman. With that said and done, I suggest that for everyone who is a fan of King K. Rool, we should start a period where we dedicate ourselves to making fanart of our beloved Kremling King, starting from January 2016. We shall call this King K. Rool month. Let's spread the word of the most underappreciated video game character if we are to have a fighting chance to finally bring him back from gaming limbo and to his former glory for the next Donkey Kong Country Returns and even the next Super Smash Bros. KING K. ROOL FOREVER!

Well that's all for my list of the most underappreciated. Let's keep our fingers crossed for the best in the future, everyone, especially for King K. Rool, the Koopalings, and many more. Good night.

Agreed with King K. Rool and the Koopalings!
Miyamoto only said that  the Koopalings weren't Bowser's children was just to force Bowser Jr. down our throats.

Yeah, I agree. While Bowser Jr. isn't a bad character, I think he's a nice addition to the series, Miyamoto basically said that as a way to flip off the people who don't accept him as part of the Mario series. The Koopalings being Bowser's kids is something that only Miyamoto would be bothered by.

Cool list, it's nice to some love for Vector, Soto, and Meowth. I also used to wonder what happened to the rest of Diego's old pack.

Couldn't agree more on Bunnie~ I really disliked how she was pretty much shafted as the series came to it's end.

I agree with you on Spike. I use to watch MLP-FIM first two seasons, then I lost interest after I watch Season 3 premiere. Spike actually saved the Crystal empire. But to me, nobody seemed to notice or care. In the end, Twilight got all the credit for the mission.Despite the stain glass of Spike's victory. Talk about unfair. Sometimes I wonder why characters like Spike are even in those shows if they don't have much of a purpose. I also agree with what you said about Non-pony and  Male characters. It's like any creature that isn't a pony is a freak. I've never understood that. Ponies are superior and everyone else lower class. Ponies rule the world. Bow down Non-pony peasants. Now the Male characters. I hate how they're treated, it's always the girls getting all the spotlight. Despite MLP being focus on girls, It was always targeted on girls. But I'm surprised boys and men like MLP too. Bronies. The Boys in MLP are just as important, the producers just can't see that. I don't think they even want to. All and all, Spike and all that are on your list deserve so much better. Spike needs to find new friends he could relate to.

and those like Spike are one of the reason people like me jumps MLP:FIM trend Bandwagon

how about Spike got Misty and Tracey from Pokemon(later joined by Ash's former traveling buddies whose their roster grows as Pokemon Anime goes on) as well the rest of 8 Original Digidestined that aren't Takeru or Hikari for his new friends?

I only watched a few episodes of MLP:FiM since I got curious on how guys could like the show, and I can see why. The characters are nicely designed, there's some good stories and many of them teach moral values. However, I decided to just like the characters since I disliked the way Spike was being treated. I don't know why they keep him in the show either, but I guess it's to make him either the punching bag or the scapegoat, just like Meg Griffin from Family Guy and just like Butters from South Park. It wasn't like that in Season 1, but after Lauren Faust got laid off, starting with Season 2, Hasbro decided to make the ponies torment him at every opportunity. worse enough if it's Twilight, Rarity, and Fluttershy when Twilight is supposed to be like a mother figure to Spike, Rarity is his supposed crush, and Fluttershy is supposed to be the nicest of the Mane Six. Agreed that Spike would be better off with friends who actually care about him.

Totally agree about K. Rool. However, I think the mii costume was a sign of them finally recognizing his popularity. I think as long as his popularity stays up, then he has a good chance of coming back

I can see where you're going with that, but still I found it insulting that instead of the actual K. Rool, we just get some goofy Mii kid in a costume.

Thanks, and I'm sure a lot of others do as well. I think we should have a month dedicated to making K. Rool art as a way of expressing our loyalty and support in bringing him back to the games.

I'm not sure if that works. Nintendo really doesn't give a fuck what western people think about them. K. Rool is also for me more a Rareware character and not a Nintendo character. So their for, when I would draw fanart of him my inner child will support more Rareware than Nintendo and we all know Rareware is dead.

I feel the same way about the DKC series. The DKC series as a whole has always, for me, been more of a Rare series than a Nintendo series and all its characters too.

Desertlizard In reply to TheSocialistVegan [2015-12-22 14:41:28 +0000 UTC]

Nintendo barley use any of the characters besides DK and Diddy. Dixie also appeared almost 4 console generation later in DKC:TF. That's quit a lot of time that past and shows me, Nintendo has no clue what to do with them. Retro Studios is the only company that seems to know how to use some of the Kong characters in a good way.

TheSocialistVegan In reply to Desertlizard [2015-12-22 14:45:27 +0000 UTC]

That's true but I do wish Retro would stick with the Kremlings and other characters like Zingers, Gnawtys etc. The Returns games are okay but does not have that feel the original DKC games had.

Well at least with the Snowmads they have some good replacements for the Kremlings. At least they have way more personality than those Tiki masks.

Shame really, because they are what got them that far in the gaming industry. If they fail to realise this, then they're going to meet their downfall eventually. Then again, the same can be said for the other Donkey Kong Country characters like Diddy Kong, Funky Kong, and others. Yeah, Rareware just wasn't the same after Microsoft bought them. Rareware should have just stayed with Nintendo.

Most of these I have not even heard of. I totally agree with the koopalings and K.Rool taking the top two spots. They are left out of games a lot by Nintendo and they show no signs of going back to their roots.

Yeah, and the sad part is that they don't really give a crap for the western audience, as said above.
