Description
Art Block + Insomnia = This. Every summer I get an art block. Every summer I try to force myself to draw. Every time it turns into something really creepy. Rarely, though, does it turn out well. That's pretty much it. Took about an hour and a half to sketch, and maybe half an hour to forty-five minutes to process on the computer.

You say it doesn't turn out so well. I disagree, I think it's a testiment to your inner self. I've been in therapy many a year and in self discovery for what seems like forever. Art is a vehicle for expression, especially useful when your emotions are riding high and mighty or low and mightier. This can be a dynamic form of success in your life. I can sence there is a whole lot to discover down your road. Take these few words of praise and wisdom from someones whose been doing it for a long time and although I'm not published my work is rarely at fault. Because I'm always true to myself and I'm always in tune with my feelings and what I'm going to express. If you're not that, than you're nothing and art isn't the full expression for you.
You have a command of the shading and form. Take these thoughts and make use of them. Keep an open mind and heart and the rest will follow and most of all. Don't ever measure success by the money in your pocket or the words of a critic, because their jobs usually is to opinionate, calous, and usually over inflated with jealousy for the things they could never do. Not that they're always wrong, but most times they couldn't give a hoot about you and your work efforts.
with a sincere heart and mind.

Thank you very much for your insight. :>
My artist's comment, I realize now, was kind of misleading. I'm actually very pleased with how this turned out. It's just that usually, when I draw something under the same circumstances, it isn't always a success.
I know based on my gallery it doesn't look like it, but I don't let people put me down, and I'm actually a very happy person. I used to let people get to me a couple of years ago, but I've since realized it was silly. (Incidentally, most of my gallery is from that time.)
"Insomnia" isn't a very good indication of my mindset as a whole. I'm the happiest I've been in a long time, after a rather dark couple of years. I usually go through a low in the summer, since I don't have a lot to do, and "Insomnia" was drawn during that so-called low.
Still, thank you for your insight and kind words. C:
