A wip of my pic for thecaptainfoxxi am trying something new here, by trying to bring out a bit more shine to kid patch. Please let me know how it is working, you can see it best by the hand closest to draco
by the way, is the arm that is raised in the air the right shape?

The shinyness is a bit over done, you should try to make the glares smaller and give them an extremely light tint of what your character is colored.
Nice picture though somecreature sure looks grateful and appears to be enjoying itself.

there are many different levels of shine depending on what kind of material you're going for. The glossier and more reflective you want him, like a balloon, the more contrast you have to add. If you want him like a vinyl pooltoy, spread out and the contrast in the shine more so it blends, just like you have done. either way the shine should probably affect more surface area in the parts of the drawing that have a lot of empty color space, just to add compositional balance if nothing more.

i see what you are getting at. i am sort of going for a mix of the two, vinal enough to give him structure, but enough of a balloon to make him seem like he has some give and stretch to his body
