Now that I have more free time before my Spring Semester of 2021, here is one DC villain I’ve been wanting to draw for a while.

The villain who uses puzzles and riddles in his schemes. The one whose intellect rivals that of Batman himself. One of the most enduring enemies of Batman- behold the Riddler!

Possessing a superb and creative intellect, along with holding an obsession for attention, the Riddler’s real name is Edward Nigma. And much like the Joker is one who cracks twisted jokes and dark humor, the Riddler is a master of riddles, tricks, and puzzle games.

Riddler typically carries out his plans by using a riddle or puzzle for Batman, or other victims, to solve. He usually will describe his planned crime in the form of a riddle, and this allows him to puzzle and confuse many with his use of metaphors and tricky questions.

As one of Batman’s most well-known rogues, the Riddler has appeared in various forms of media outside comic books, such as the hilariously campy 1960s Batman TV show, which made him even more famous. He also appeared in the groundbreaking 1990s Batman: The Animated Series, and will play a central role in the upcoming DC Extended Universe movie The Batman.

Powers and abilities

Like most of Batman’s enemies, the Riddler has no super powers, but makes use of his genius intelligence and his fondness for riddles and puzzle games to be one of Gotham’s most cunning criminals.
Apart from his immense talent in using puzzles and metaphors in his schemes, Riddler is also a skilled engineer, computer programmer, and escape artist. His computer programming skills allows him to construct mechanical games and death traps, which Batman and his allies often find themselves having to get past.
