My suggestion for Golem:
1: Divide the room into four with one thick walls. Allow small passageways between. The centre wall must be directly above the altar.
2: Construct a small box with no roof just above the altar, at each side. You'll spawn him stood there.
3: Make a small platform above the altar, so Golem can't jump.
4: Legendary Terrablade and Optic Staff. Thats all the weapons you'll need.
5: Chlorophyte armour (melee set) and full Warding accessories. Make sure you have the Lightning Boots and a Band of Regeneration.
6: Have a stack of Greater Healing Potions ready, plus a couple Campfires and Heart Lanterns placed as such you'll always have the boosts.
7: Wall off the entrance.
8: Stay on the upper sections until the fists are down, then hop to the platform to dish some damage to the head. Don't forget to dodge.
9: Once you get him into his second form, tanking the body is easy.
That's how I beat Golem. Hope it helps.

That awkward moment when you hear "You feel an evil presence watching you..."

Β I fougth him today, first a talked to the Merchant and he said "I feel an evil presence watching me...", I said Ho-ly crap!. I put all my stuff in my chests, made potions and a bow, took my shurikens, knives, arrows and my harpoon, also I made wooden platforms so I could evade him easier. The night came, "The Eye of Cthulhu has awoken"... Me: Come here.
Β In five minutes he was dead, now I know: Nothing can stop me... The other night I summoned him to get more demonite and I'm gonna do it a lot of times ^^.

Β I already finished the game in normal mode, in Expert Mode I already defeated every mechanical boss, got a bit tired after not being able to find Plantera to fight it so I gave the game a rest.
