Daily sketch numero quatro (in a series of cinco) based on stills from Disney's Fox and the Hound.

I decided to try something a bit simpler, an angle focused primarily on Tod's face, as I was a little disturbed by how the expression came out in 'Tod Cub 3'. Again, I somehow thought this would be a little more straightforward then it ended up being, and I ultimately ended up erasing and redrawing every element from scratch (pretty much ignoring my initial guidelines) in the process.

Nonetheless, I think the shape of the face is more honest than it was in the last sketch, as are the ears, eyes, and the digits. The paw is angled a bit oddly, causing the snout and below to fall in a bit of a strange position; something I'll definitely need to set first with the next sketch.

I thought well enough of this sketch to include the chicks on the hay (as it also helps to disambiguate the slightly over-exaggerated expression he bears, now accentuated by the mishandled paw.) I sketched using a blue pencil this time for no particular reason... may help if I decide to ink it later. Also, I think one of the strengths of this sketch is the fact that I didn't feel the need to color in black segments; it's fairly clear where they would be.
