Samwell followed as quietly as he could, but he was just not a very good wolf at walking quietly due to his less than coordinated paws. So he followed Alvaro quickly, and rather loudly, at first, but as they got closer he slowed down significantly so he could place his paws carefully and not make noise. Sam looked a bit frantic as Alvaro signaled for him to take the lead. He gulped and nodded, slowly making his way forward, his nose in the air as he scented for the turkey. It was getting stronger. The wind shifted and Sam dropped his muzzle to the ground, following the trail the turkey left on the ground. Soon he heard a snap up ahead and he saw the dark, feathery shape shifting through the undergrowth before him. He froze, his amber eyes wide. He glanced back at Alvaro, begging for advice. He didn’t want to blow it again.

The two wolves moved through the trees, first loudly romping, but as they move their pace became one of a gentle glide, like that of leaves on the breeze. The thrill of the hunt brought about feelings Alvaro hadn't felt in many moons, ones of excitement and even pleasure. Although unaware of it, a sly smile was engraved upon Alvaro's face, enlivened by hunt. He was lost in the moment, following Samwell stealthily, his gait just a couple of steps shy of Sam's to allow him to lead the way. As they drew near their prey, the pace slowed and eventually stopped.

The creature was in a clearing ahead. It was a female, clear from her size and coloration, absolutely perfect teaching material for Alvaro's companion. The birds eyes were glazed over, as a turkey's eyes always were, as she mindlessly pecked away at insects on the earth below. She was at a 3/4 angle to the younger wolves, the majority of her backside exposed to them, but just slightly posed so her face was visible; they would have to move carefully so she would now spot them. Alvaro gave Samwell a reassuring nod of his head to approve of his tracking skills before motioning for him to follow. He krept slightly through the bushes to their right, angling around the awkward, ugly creature to make it to her backside before he lowered all the way to his belly to give Samwell verbal instructions.

"Okay Sam. We've done good so far", Alvaro's voice was so soft it hardly even registered as a whisper. He only spoke through short exhaled breaths, attempting to blend his words with the wind to not allow their dimwitted prey to catch onto them. "We are behind it so it cannot see us, and we are down wind so it cannot smell us. I want you to channel memories of wrestling with your sisters. You want to pounce directly on top of it, okay? And in the same move, you should aim for its throat. Keep your paws in front of you so it can't peck your face." Alvaro had confidence in his friend, or else he might offer more involvement in the process. He intended to follow just a step behind, as he had in their tracking, but wanted Samwell to believe he was working on his own and Alvaro was just observing. He didn't want his friend to accidentally become to reliant on him. "Turkeys can peck and scratch, but they aren't very strong, they really can't fly and they cannot run faster than you. Are you ready"? Alvaro lifted his brow. A flame was ignited in his eyes, something eager and wild that had died out long ago, but was catching fire once more in the moment.

I absolutely love these two! I feel like they're almost brothers, haha. Alvaro found Samwell having a hard time hunting, so he decides to take him to get something yummy to eat for lunch! Link to the final roleplay will be available upon completion! Do they make the kill? Or do they go hungry? We'll have to wait and see!!

I've been mulling over which scene from this thread I wanted to illustrate, and when I had the idea of animating this part I knew I HAD to do it! Link to animated version below as well!

I've been inactive this month due to life but I'm excited to present this piece! I've never done anything like it before, so while its not the best, I'm quite proud (I started this afternoon too, what a marathon!) I intended it to sort of look like a painting, I'm typically more into traditional styles rather than digital.

And of course, as always, it was a pleasure to draw Samwell. Can't get enough of that guy! He'd hunkered down a little lower than Alvaro is which makes him look a little smoll <3
