You will remember this monster from Super Mario Bros 2 if you are old enough. That thing gave me creeps when I was a child. Well, this is my little tribute to the creepiest enemy of all Mario games (and yeah, I know this guy wasn't originally from the Mario series). I never thought much of this enemy back in the days (other that it killed me an embarassingly amount of times), but the dark face hinted behind the mask definitely adds that creepines you're talking about. Great job

Man it was soooo satisfying getting a star when he was chasing you. No enemy, even bosses were so nice to beat than this annoying thing.

As a massive Mario 2 fanboy, my faith in humanity restores a bit whenever I see people actually remember this classic game besides myself.
It took Nintendo a while, but recently they're slowly bringing back Wart back from the grave and I really, really hope to see more of the frog king in future Mario titles.
He's been neglected for too long now, plus Bowser needs a break!

Well, Bowser is a dragon (turtle?) and Wart is just a frog, and also he was not originally from the Mario universe, I guess that's why haha. Honestly I always liked Wart's minions than Bowser's.

Yes, I know he first debuted in Doki Doki Panic, but every character besides the 4 playable protags of that game (Imagin, Lina, Mama & Papa) have been retconned into the Mario universe since. If there was any doubts before, we now know they're completely owned by Nintendo.
Plus, it still baffles me that we still see Bob-ombs, Shy Guys, Birdos, Pokeys, and Ninjis appear today without the 8-bit boss for so long now.
