Description This is a moth though it looks a little like a butterfly.  I am not sure if it is just my monitor or if this picture looks really purple.  Again trying to get a proper image that looks like the real piece is impossible.  I started this on the day of the eclipse while I sat outside checking on it every so often.  I decided to do a moth because of a tablet game that I have been enjoying "Starlight."

vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/f…

I was looking up different moths from the game and seeing how they look in real life.  I am pretty sure this is the moth they are depicting in the game. I really liked the moth and it was different than most I had seen so I came up with a project to make with this.  This was also fueled a little by frustration with a piece that I have still yet to finish that is wholly in pastel and I fight to have crisp lines.  I like mixed media to control my effects and lines based on the media I use.

This piece was rather cooperative.  My only problems were with trying to make the colors sedate enough (especially on the body which I did in colored pencil) and a fight with fixative.  The purple is because of the fixative.  The background is in paint, the body is in colored pencils, and the wings are in pastel. I am most proud of the cute legs/feet.

My favorite moths are the yellow furry legs.  They are as the name states.  They look like they have fluffy leg warmers.

I have tried to find the species or the reference photo's owner to properly credit them so here is a link to the largest version I could find.

Oh, nice drawing on the moth! Maybe these "green" stripes are now yellow, but these fit nicely with these light blue. Anyway, this came out nicely and beautiful looking.
Lol, when I see the design of this moth (that happens to have the same zodiacal sign like me) in the game these tiny black stripes and that green make me think of kiwi.
By the way, I have this game, too.

Do you play the butterfly verson of the game?  I am liking it more because the balance is better.  This last event I only got one moth and I have not gotten a zodiac flower in months.  So I am a little done with the game.

Thanks.  I am pleased with how it turned out.  I always thought the wing edges looked like piano keys.

Actually, I play both games. Plus Splash (but I installed a program that is like a phone/tablet, only that it opens on computer). I also have a tablet and I installed both the moth and the butterfly games, but with these Christmas events these began to have some glitches (the games freeze quite often) - this happens only on tablet.
Well, I got a lot of event moths (there was a helpful glitch on Wisp events - sometimes when you open the game you may see that the Wisp mother is already ready, despite the required time didn't pass. It doesn't work for fireflies, however. But I got two decorations that allow me to select moths to lay eggs for free) and a few months I began to play the butterfly game, too.

Well, about zodiac flowers, you have to complete the first two missions (one that takes 30 min/1 hour, the other one 4 hours) to get an 8 hour mission (some of them have as reward the zodiac flowers), but you have to do that in a single day, otherwise it will reset (I preferred to begin the 8 hour missions in the evening to get the reward the next day). I almost have all the zodiac moths.

You are welcome! For you there were piano keys, for me there were kiwi seeds. Lel, it rhymes.

Hm.  I used to get them with the toad and store.  Also not happy with how hard it is to get the bucks now.  I used to poke the videos while I was watching tv or waiting for a game to load.  Tip on butterflies.  You will eventually get one that visits with the end ability to lay eggs.  That is how i have had success.  I spent 250 bucks at the time and then played some dumb game for 6 moths until I earned 1000 bucks to finish the butterfly off and then I was happy.  I now have three egg layers.  The bucks are way to expensive to spend money on.  The only free game I have spent money on is League of Legends and that is completely unnecessary for game play.  That is how I think it should be.

I know the feeling, it's way too expensive now (with glowbucks). And it's quite annoying also because I can't use the laying egg for free ability for visiting moths... I preferred to do something else while these videos were running to gain these rewards, too.
Hmmm... right, it's too expensive, I prefer to not spend money on these games at all.

Still, I find these designs on butterflies, moths and aquatic creatures cute and colorful. And after getting the Leopard moth (Silva set) I began to imagine some strange species of beings from a different universe (moth-people and butterfly people). I have some pictures in my gallery with some moth-people inspired from some designs of moths from the game. Here is one of them (although it's a bit strange looking and old):
  What do you think?

Fun.  Would be interesting to design cloths on them.

Well, yes, but it's a bit complicated for the top (because of the wings).

I absolutely love moths, there just so cute! By the way that moth is an iotaphora admirabilis.
I always love the white and gold color combination. it just automatically gives an elegant look to it. Great job on this drawing!

Hm the color balance in my reference is a bit off.  Oh well. Thanks I have been looking for it for months.  I think I like it in the not correct blue more than the odd emerald green.

It's still really good!
Haha you're welcome, I like the blue and green the same. I think there both fitting for the moth.

Thanks.  It looks weird in the green after I have spent so much time looking at it in blue.  lol.

It is quite a gorgeous moth Moths always look so fluffy haha Nice work on the slight blue/white/gray balance in the wings. It's subtle and makes the strands pop out a bit more
I must say I really dig the leaf structure you made too! Nice details and colour variations therein.

Thanks.  I apparently work well in green though I don't like it much.  Those leaves turned out better than I thought they would.
