They probably did it to cover up the scar from the trap and to make Nightshade look more deadly.

i love drawing nightfuries as well and I need to know how you get the scale effect, what program do you use. Do you draw on a computer or tablet? I draw on a tablet and I am very new too it

Im really nervous about what will happen Next.
In my comic (SPOILER) i add a part where Elised goes to a Contest called DRAGON GLADIATORS, but is Legal, Meanwhyle the Dragons not kill themselves, At the first sight about Blood or Broken bones you get out from the contest.
in that time will be diferent, all the dragons kill themselves for survive
