Description
UnsungMediums Crayon Challenge Contest SubmissionThis is my entry into crayon contest . . . the original picture was taken by and I printed it up and went completely old school at my mother-in-law's house . . . I had it propped up in front of me and FREEHANDED THIS WITH CRAYON!
No Tracing. No Computer. Not even a pencil. Just me, the printout, a box of 96 crayolas and a 9"x12" piece of Bristol!
I think I can be justifiably proud of myself for this . . . even if I don't win.
But . . . go . . . go . . . GO AND ENTER! This was SOOOOO much fun to do! [link]

Wow. . . this is really beautiful. And it's with crayons! Even better; those poor little crayons are such an unappreciated tool of trade, it's great to see them used to create such a beautiful work of art. I love it!

Crayons - DEFINITELY unappreciated - you should check out the group (if you haven't already! i've been on vacation! ) if you have time you could join in too
the more the merrier!

And that was the whole point of the contest, to show that crayons can be AWESOME!

It's beautiful! I've never been very handy at using crayon and I totally applaud you for it!
(and you say you can't do traditional media anymore!!! HAH!)

dragondoodle In reply to jijikit [2010-07-06 04:57:45 +0000 UTC]
The trick I discovered is that you can't overwork it . . . too many layers and nothing goes down I did a lot of scraping in some areas
The final piece is very shiny
It was a lot of fun . . . I guess I can do "traditional" media still (although I don't know if crayon counts as "traditional"
)

DragonPress In reply to dragondoodle [2010-07-12 03:27:57 +0000 UTC]
yup, i had that problem too - but i actually found a way around it for the background area.....and i did do some scraping as well to get some effects in there. it WAS soooo fun
and yes, it should count as traditional!

jijikit In reply to dragondoodle [2010-07-06 17:02:42 +0000 UTC]
It's not using a computer, so I count it!
I'm curious to try now, but I'd have to see if I even have any crayons anymore. Plus, I wouldn't know what pic to do... :/

DragonPress In reply to jijikit [2010-07-12 03:28:57 +0000 UTC]
go ahead! plenty of pics to choose from (thats why i put up a little suggestion page of art) pick one, if you want a closer look, tell me so i can send you a link to the bigger piece....
at any rate, its just a bit of fun and theres still time - whats to lose?
