Description WOO! New Fan Art Friday submission!

This was requested by my daughter. I grew up with the Muppets, first on Sesame Street (when it was still edgy and not "The Elmo Show", you know, the version they say isn't appropriate for children anymore?), then on The Muppet Show. I remember seeing The Muppet Movie in 1979 in the theater and loving it soooooo much. My parents had to buy my brother and me the record, which we promptly played to death and probably drove them insane

Pictured are three of my favorite scenes - Kermit singing in the swamp, Sweetums bursting in, and Gonzo floating away with his balloons.

This seems an especially appropriate picture since the Anniversary of Jim Henson's death was May 16th

So this picture is dedicated to the lovers, the dreamers, and me . . . may we never lose the rainbow connection to our dreams and imaginations.

The Muppets belong to Disney (who apparently now owns my entire childhood )

I love it! The original Sesame Street was great it all is too me. The old SST character designs were really cool if sometimes scary. Which year/season of SST? This is my favorite Muppet Movie as well. I thought Gonzo buying Cammila balloons was so cute, especially since she sorta sounds like she was talking. Ive seen that movie so many times!!

I was aware of Sesame Street in 1973 The episodes I have on disc are from 1968 on. They're not the full seasons, just certain episodes and a lot of the short bits I remember as a kid. Eventually I'm going to do a Fan Art Friday picture of Sesame Street

Another one to check out is Christmas Eve on Sesame Street from 1978 . . . Oscar is truly mean, Cookie Monster is eating EVERYTHING, and the songs are great

In my opinion, the last great gasp of the classically good Sesame Street was the movie Follow That Bird in 1985. I tried watching the recent Sesame Street when my kids were little and I was appalled at how stupid it had become

1968? Didn't it start in 1969? YEE DRAW MUPPETS

XD it has changed but I still love it

is Follow That Bird available anywhere online? I really wanna see it, Big Bird is my favorite after Snuffy.

I think I saw part of the Christmas one. I WANNA ICE SKATE WITH BIG BIRD LIKE THAT THAT LOOKS FUN! Carol Spinney is so talented.

Full body muppets are scary without there mouths moving

But Cookie was really well acted

OMG OSCAR OUCH

Oh yes I have seen this but not the first part of it.

Ah! You're right, 1969 it was. Two years before I was born

You can watch it on YouTube for a fee . . . I think it was on Netflix for a while too

Carol Spinney is amazing . . . what he could do with his hand up in the air was amazing. Rollerskating, dancing . . . all of it.

I haven't watched it in soooo long, I need to dig out my DVD's at some point though

As he's gotten older, Big Bird has gotten shorter, but yes, it's really awesome

Don't know the exact sizes but if you look at the original vs new you can tell that Big Bird's neck has gotten dramatically shorter due to the fact that it is harder for Carol Spinney to hold his arm up that high anymore. I mean, the guy IS 82 . . . most of the older Muppeteers don't even do it anymore due to arthritis from holding their arms up and weird angles for most of their lives

Yep but Caroll has said that he will SST as long as he possibly can

That's why he's my muppeteer hero

WOOT!!!  My favorite movie as a kid!  Haven't actually seen it in years, but I have the soundtrack on tape.  Used to play it on long car trips to keep me awake when I drove, as I knew all the words!!!  LOVE THIS!!!

I had the whole movie taped so I could listen to it while doing yard work for people while I was in college Can recite the movie pretty much verbatim

Glad you like it!

LOL!  My sister and I used to do that!  She got really good at only taping the songs which is one of the reasons I used to know all the words to Pete's Dragon!

XD It's nice. I did that with Ghostbusters, The Muppet Movie, The Princess Bride, and some others I can't remember until I see them again and realize I've got them completely down

Aw, this is awesome! I love the classic Sesame Street. I'm guessing it still wasn't Elmo show when I was growing up, at least. XD It's been a long time since I saw this movie, but I remember really loving it. Kermit's my fav ^^ Great job!

Thank you! I'm still not really happy with Gonzo but he's really difficult to figure out

Gonzo is a weird looking fellow. XD So I imagine he's hard to draw. Have fun watching the movie!
