Description
This is one of my favorites so far. It was one of those, as my teacher says, that just "falls off the brush." (The collage for it I didn't like so well. I probably won't be uploading that one.)Oil on canvas

this is a great painting! it makes you feel like your in yosemite. you did an excellent job with the whole atmosphere of it, did you paint this from photo referance or on the spot? i usually have trouble painting on location, because the sun tends to fade alot quicker than my hands can move. the detail is amazing, in the trees, and the slight misty feel to the background translated really well in the paint. overall, its really nice to look at! how long did this take you to paint? and was it pre-planned, or did you come across this scene and start to paint? although you wouldnt have to travel far in yosemite to find a great place to paint, its so nice there, id love to go.

I painted this in class, so it was done from a photograph, one my Dad (or my brother or me - I don't remember anymore) took while we were on vacation. I've yet to try painting on location, but I imagine the changing lighting could pose a real problem! Let's see, I think I finished this one before the end of class, so ... 5 hours, give or take.

i usually dont like realism, but to every rule there is an exception--this one being nature paintings, and its becuz of paintings like this that shape that emotion for me. good work.

Really great! I like the big "rocky" mountains, and the way you've painted the trees. The foreground is really nice too, great composition.

Thank you! I'm not sure I can take full credit for the composition, though - I don't remember who in my family took the picture this is based on

It's only 5" by 8", so I finished it within one class period - probalby about 4-5 hours.
