Sandy Cheeks is a major character in the Nickelodeon animated franchise SpongeBob SquarePants .
She is an anthropomorphic squirrel who is one of SpongeBob 's best friends. Sandy is notable for her Texan characteristics, stereotypical accent and passion for science.
She is voiced by Carolyn Lawrence , who also voiced Cindy Vortex in the Jimmy Neutron franchise, and Ashley Graham in Resident Evil 4 .
