Description
This is part of my collection. It is a one of a kind single shot bolt action handgun. The rounds it takes are also custom made. It shoots a 460 case that has been necked out to hold 50 BMG heads. Currently I have six shells for it, I have to get with my loader and have more made.
To give you an idea, if you know anything about guns, the shells below from right to left are...
9mm,45,308, an the custom for the gun(yeah the big one)
This thing is the psychotic idea of my Dad.
He created this thing just because he could. Test firing was fun since he wasn't sure if it would blow up or not. Initially the recoil made it go from 3 to 12. After the barrel was ported Dad could hold it one handed an it only jumped 3 inches in recoil.
Unforunately I haven't found anywhere that will let me shoot the big bastard. On a side note, everyone that has seen this thing says 'hell no I won't shoot that thing'. I thought guys liked the more power thing.

Well now, would you look at that, my hat is off to your fathers work. You can't go wrong with the Hornady A-MAXX, it's an excellent quality match bullet. I can appreciate the craftsmanship put into that pistol, I'd sure love to get some trigger time with something like that, thanks for sharing it.

Thank you very much. Many people didn't appreciate the creativity my Dad had. Eventually once things settle down here at the new house I hope to get some time to play with this beastie myself. Sometime I'll put up a pic of the 308, I call it 'Frankie' since it is a frankenstein thing.

The sad thing is that it is men. I thought it was a genetic testosterone thing that guys liked everything bigger an more powerful. Guess I was wrong. When I got it back from repairs I was walking round the house cuddling it to my chest saying how much I missed it. My bf was looking at me like I was nuts.

He was strong but that brought him down as he got older. Stupidity in youth caused him to do things he shouldn't which blew out his back. I'm heading the same way already. 27 an I have lower back problems associated with much older people. The joys of hard labor jobs....

Yeah tell me about it I mean I never did hard labor jobs but my older sister did for a few years. Bad back now. My dad did too but he was really smart how he lifted things so it usually wasn't his back that got him - it was his knees. A lot of kneeling and kneeing in carpet laying.
I used to have back problems but I jumped out of a second story window and it hasn't bothered me since

I work 2nd shift hours, 215 to 1015. My drive is an hour or just a bit over that one way. I have to leave early due to traffic cause I hate being late. By the time I get home most everyone is asleep so I wash dishes, do laundry etc until all odd hours of the morning.

sorry to hear that... it's supposed to be the hardest the first time around since no one wants unpublished authors. If you self-publish it helps people take you seriously but self-published books don't really go anywhere, they just get your foot in the door (hopefully)

My Dad called it 'Bubba' for some reason.

well it looks like hick artillery (no offense my uncle shoots a similar pistol in 7mm-08 and that's what we call it) so bubba fits it. and honestly I'd machine rest it anyway, probly give you a better idea of it's MOA too, I'd guess it's gonna be 1 or maybe .75 at about 150 years give or take a few minutes

Eh, if I can *ever* find a place to let it off. No one even wants to be close, but my boyfriend did promise the local gunsmith to film me shooting it so he could see. Mose than likely it'll be a trip to the backwoods on someone's private land so I can fire off a few rounds.
An Dad didn't get the chance to make it *pretty*. He was working on a nicer stock for it just before he died.

awww sorry to hear he passed on. and the stocks not bad at all it just needs sanding on the forearm and a trigger guard looks pretty fine to me actualy. I was actualy talking about the calibre not the appearance X3 never seen a pistol that big outside a Pfeifer-Zaliska

Dragonkitty13 In reply to KyleFrost [2009-05-20 06:21:58 +0000 UTC]
Huh, usually everyone gripes bout the stock. Dad made the thing on a whim just to see if it would work. That 'more power' thing was something he loved to play with. If I had more knowledge of machining an access to milling machine I'd likely try to make something myself.

KyleFrost In reply to Dragonkitty13 [2009-05-20 15:21:48 +0000 UTC]
just use sandpaper to soften the edges and use some varnish or tongue oil to touch it up and then use needle nose pliers to bend a brass strip to the right shape and use a regular old drill to punch screw holes in it and there's a functional and decent looking guard

Dragonkitty13 In reply to KyleFrost [2009-05-21 04:20:29 +0000 UTC]
Maybe one day I'll do something like that, but in a way I don't want to. It is the way my Dad left it an well its hard to change it. I still get the urge to ask his opinion on stuff then realize I can't. Might take me a few years to be able to do anything to it or any of the others I inherited.
