The Hidebehind is an extremely dangerous and elusive beast. In fact, the scientific name was renamed (previous Ursus dissimulus) due to recent genetic research. The primary reason of our lack of knowledge on it is because not only few researchers ever spot one or, if they do, often die from it. The few of those who do live to tell the tale are too frightened to ever speak of it. However, thanks to a corpse of one that was killed by hunters, we learned much more about it. It's an exclusively carnivorous xenarthran closely related to the three-toed sloth. Still, it's far from a slow, peaceful sleeper. It has been known to kill werewolves, trolls, ogres, even true dragons. Still, it does fall prey to the snallygaster and Pete's Bear-Drakes. In addition, it has a city-dwelling subspecies that is more docile and intelligent.
