Description
This is the part of the track where Digi`s kart usually would have difficulties since it was built mainly on a high speed factor and a lower turning/drift factor. However by combining Cyber Overdrive with an emergency brake turn Digi was able to stay in the centre of the track as It looped over and over. It was going well until Cyber Overdrive ran-out; That’s when the drifting difficulty returned. As it was quite a light weighted kart it swiftly went from centre to dangerously close to the tracks edge. Just to complicate things further ;ahead of him Tango had activated the cherry bombs by accident after bumping into Coxi. Digi was forced to slam heavily on the brake and accelerator simultaneously as he held on against not only the turning situation but also the shockwaves that the cherry bombs caused. Digi tried his best to stay 5th but lost his place as a motorbike zipped past at the tip of the spiral. They entered the cinnamon boost tube. Crona looked back and gave a half-salute as a returned taunt from earlier. This just fuelled Digi to go faster on the next section of track. After landing it was this boost of competitive attitude that allowed Digi to not only retake his place of 5th ;which was now being held by Tango after she had got hit by a sweet seeker; but with the extra push he even gain a few places as the race entered the ice cream Mountains; The final section. Taffyta and Rancis now stood in Digi`s way, creating a block across the road with their karts. Digi leapt at every opening he saw but the gap would always become closed shortly after appearing. Digi began to feel jealous of Crona ;having a motorbike meant he could get through tighter gaps so this would be no problem for him! Digi sighed and mumbled a vague insult to the sugar racers under his breath; picking up a power-up as he waited. Suddenly the circuit breaker jolted. Galaxia shunted into the back of the circuit breaker again, She wanted to pass at any cost. Digi grinned. It seemed the jolt had reminded him of something, Something Crona and Vanellope had shown him a long time ago when he first practised the course. He sharply jabbed a flashing button on the screen. A message popped up for a short amount of time; It read “-500 points, Shortcut opened”. As soon as the message faded it was replaced with a low resolution stop watch with a large red “30 sec” pasted overtop. As the number decreased Digi span the steering wheel to the right as his kart turned in the respective direction and went through the now-opened space in the outside barrier. For a brief second the circuit breaker soared on thin air but it didn`t take long for the wheels to make contact with the ground. By taking the short cut Digi entered Rainbow-lace cave on the higher road instead of the normal lower road. Looking down, He could spot the other drivers in the top positions. Sparkz had managed to grab 1st but Crona was only mere seconds behind her; The gap between second and third place was considerably large though. Turning his attention to the front Digi realized that the higher road was soon going to end so he had to move to the lower road or face plummeting into the cave depths. Taking the sensible choice, He accelerated to achieve his max speed before jumping down ,breaking in-between Sparkz and Crona, putting him into a nice 2nd place. Now all he had to do was pass Sparkz and take the race; Victory was in sight! Digi`s thoughts were torn apart as a loud roar echoed through the cave behind them. In the distance of the higher road; a blinding light drew closer .A dragon themed kart came into view. Digi gulped, “Dravix…”He murmured. Following a similar plan to Digi`s, Dravix leapt his kart down. Crona had to quickly swerve and brake as the kart almost crushed him. He shook his fist in anger as Dravix drove ahead, Stealing a power-up from the knight. Digi could hear the crowd at the finishing line as he approached the cave`s exit! As he left he gave a quick glance up. The meteors were still tearing through the night sky, Now all he had to do was pass Sparkz. Although he was already driving at the max his kart could do he somehow managed to squeeze out some extra power giving him just enough edge to pass into 1st . Digi was beginning to feel confident that his victory was assured! But with a violent slam, His confidence rapidly washed away. Dravix`s kart came across from the corner of Digi`s eye. He pushed his kart into the side of the circuit breaker, A tactic that meant Digi could not easily gain speed as well as slowing him down. This must`ve been how he passed Sparkz as well. Not yet beaten, Digi got ready to try to force the kart to maximise its potential. He was about to slam his foot down with enough force to break the pedal when a call can through the intercom. Digi gave it a few minutes to consider, You weren`t supposed to call each other during the race but figuring he had nothing to lose he answered. Dravix`s laugh echoed through the static causing Digi to cringe; A sick feeling or regret came over him, “Im surprised you even made it this far, for an incomplete moron! Too bad you had to lose now, You can pass me if you want but I`ll just use a boost and push you back down like the low life you are! ”. Digi growled and cut the call before Dravix could insult him anymore. Now it was Digi`s turn to call another racer ; She picked-up hastily, “What is it Teku! Why`d ya even call me? Going to gloat? I dare ya too!” Sparkz spat into the mic furiously. As much as he wanted to gloat, Digi replied calmly and quietly, “No…”He whispered. His voice was shaking with fear and sadness; ”Listen I can`t let this Dravix win… He`s working with Sugar-Slack…”. There was a gasp followed by another growl on Sparkz side of the call as Digi continued, “I just wanted you to promise me one thing…” Sparkz seemed more infuriated now. Was it because the whole Sugar-Slack thing or just because Digi hadn`t gloated? She made a huffing noise like a young child does when being stroppy, “And that is?” she asked; her voice slightly muffled. Digi fell silent for a few moments. “Win” His voice trembled, “Show them what we heroes are made of…. Don`t do it for me… do it for Gloyd!”.At that moment Digi cut the call, increased his speed to be slightly faster than Dravix and slammed heavily on his emergency breaks; Twisting the wheels in Dravix`s direction. The sudden brake caused the circuit breaker to lose control as it swerved in front of the dragon-themed kart. This was not a move that Dravix had predicted. Predicting that Digi`s speed increase was in order to pass him, He had quick-fire activated the speed boost. There was a loud metal crunch as the two karts T-bone collided with each other. Digi`s kart was flipped onto its side and pushed along the track. Sparks of white ,yellow and orange flew as the horrific screech from the metal was forced against the track. Digi tucked himself up to try to avoid injury the best he could, using the space where he sat as a bunker. The back end of Dravix`s kart began sliding from left to right as the wheels kept spinning from the boost. The terrible screeching from the metal was quickly interrupted by a loud bang and a cloud of black smoke and blue electricity. The Dragon karts engine had finally blown from overflow. The wreckage from the collision was finally losing momentum as it slowed to a halt. Meanwhile not far ahead Sparkz had finished the race coming first; Crona came Second and Taffyta in third. So in an attempt to lighten the mood from the fresh tragedy the cameras panned in to the winner’s podium, as told to by royal decree. The fireworks shot out in the distance behind the racers as they were individually announced as winners; acting out their signature pose and quote after being called. Back at the site of the crash, Digi smiled. He was fine; Luckily his kart was a very good shield. He could hear the fireworks in the distance as his body recovered from shock.
