Just a word about the Tholian Ship. In watching the TOS-R episode of "The Tholian Web", I was disappointed that the powers that be made the Tholians just another race that had 'Hardware' ships.
The Tholians being a very alien, crystalline, species may not build their ships as the Federation might.
They may "grow" them using a crystal matrix of kind. Their ships could appear to be made out of a material like Fire Agate.
Just a musing from my personal 'Head Canon'.
