Kirk smiled. The end of the Enterprise's 5 year mission under his command. There was already talk of the historic nature of this mission as well as a promotion to Admiral for himself. The Enterprise, now 24 years old, was scheduled for a major refit and he was scheduled for a desk job. It was bittersweet, but they would finish with a flare.
"Mr Sulu, this is a momentous occasion. You may indulge yourself..."
Sulu caught on immediately. "Aye Captain."
He deftly touched the helm controls and executed a perfect victory roll as the Enterprise passed over San Francisco...
