Description
Largely because I felt like it. P: And I like drawing Telaun so it was a good excuse.READY FOR SOME INFORMATIONS? 8D
- A Telaun's personal wealth is carried on their person in the form of jewelry.
- Telaun have no magic. What they do have could be called a pronounced ability to tell whether the person they're looking at is dangerous towards them or not- female Telaun have the most pronounced version of this ability, because the babies are so important. For the rest of the Telaun, it's generally just a feeling they take as fact that turns out to be true more often than not. A great number of Telaun are also passably decent at reading body language, which supplements this ability.
- Telaun palms are very sensitive. Many nerves are gathered there, and it can give a Telaun quite a jolt if their palms are touched without warning. For this reason, all members of the species wear gloves. Most gloves are openbacked to display their tribal marking (which is usually-to-always on their left hand). It is rumored that this sensitivity has something to do with their 'sixth sense' about trustworthy people, but this is false.
- Telaun live relatively short lives due to warring with other species, between their own tribes, predators and sickness. Because of this, Telaun women and children are highly prized, and expectations to reproduce frequently are high.
- The Telaun worship an unnamed child-god who appears without a tribe tattoo, but this god is not their creator diety. The mother of their child-god has no reliable representation, and is largely considered an indifferent being. She is prayed to when a Telaun marries or gets pregnant- this is done out of respect so that she doesn't become angry and cause the child to be stillborn.
- Their skin can actually be pied with white sometimes. This is a genetic defect.
- Children receive their tribe-tattoos when they come of age, and receive the extra, decorative tattoos as they win battles. The larger the battle, the larger the tattoo. Think of it as a point system: The Telaun (especially males) with the most tattoos, especially big ones, are considered to be prime father material no matter how old they are, and the most capable of protecting a woman and children. Telaun with relatively few tattoos are not likely to find a partner.
- There aren't really associated 'names' for the tribes, only a set of traits that most of the members meet.
- The tribe with the circle mark is the most religious tribe and is run by the oldest woman in the area, often referred to as the Mother, or Oldest Mother out of respect. The headwoman of the circular holy tribe sometimes behaves like a priestess, and is considered to be the closest to the child-god and its mother. This, and the fact that she heads the tribe that through either choice or birth holds the most females, gives her a great deal of sway with the other tribes. The circular tribe only takes part in battle in truly dire situations. The symbol of this tribe represents what it usually does- the flow of life. Non-Telaun are forbidden contact with this group, especially the headwoman.
- There are three other tribes: the one represented by the arrow is the fleetest and the most skilled at distance weaponry. These are the warriors that live the longest. Usually they will act as ambassadors to non-Telaun. The tribe represented by the mountain range is generally the strongest and most skilled at close combat, and have the shortest lives- though they are the most prolific. The tribe represented by the flaming mountain are skilled metalsmiths, and craft most of the jewelry and weaponry (and thus technology) for the species. This is the wealthiest group.
- They are carnivorous, and get their greens from the stomach of whatever they have killed and the spices they use to season their meat.
- They are extremely agile and flexible, given their height and their arboreal heritage. Telaun are built to move quickly through dense areas, not running over flat distances. They cannot swim well, and are highly susceptible to poisons.
- Beauty and attractiveness is judged by the richness of their skin color, intricate hairstyles, number of tattoos and amount of scarring and/or missing bits.

This is pretty cool, I like it. What do you plan on doing with your Telaun in the future?

I'm not sure! I'm in the process of worldbuilding for them right now, but I'm hoping I'll come up with something cool for them to do. xD

Wow, I love the racial concepts and the religious system. I'm going to have to read this a few more times to totally sink it in, but I love it. =3

Thanks! I'm probably never going to use religious references, but coming up with that sort of thing is something I really enjoy. xD

Back story is important, even if only you know about it.

I applaud the hard work you have obviously put into your peoples.
Its fun to look at them in your gallery and see how much they've grown more complex.
And now...awesome.
I love all the face markings, and details you put into what is this or that in their society.
soo many details, I love it.
Must look over the writings and drawings some more.
Btw, you've gotten really good at making figures in a variety of relaxed and dynamic poses. A good example of how natural you make the figure is the older lady one on the right. I luv her to bits for it. And I love how you did her hands. Not a typical interaction with the fingers - but so well done, and it adds to the relaxed stance she is in.
Also...she has many shinies. *must take one*

Faceial markings are my favorite ones. <3 And aw, thanks! I'm glad the Telaun have visibly grown so much. They're my babies right alongside my birds.
I hope so. I need to increase my pose vocabulary, so that's great that the effort is paying off! I was even able to be happy with the old woman, which is so rare. It's like I'm allergic to anyone not in their 20s. xD
