Description Here's my half of an art trade with .
This is her charrie Red Will. It says on the ref sheet that he has bandages that can go anywhere so I stuck one on his leg for him to pull .
Honestly it's actually taken me 4 hours to complete this since the WIP I posted:

4 hours only? Goosh you work faaast xDDD Normally I would take a bit longer to do a pixel of this size xDDD (I'm generally really slow at everything I draw though xD )

This looks awesome, I love the little hairs on his fur and that taiiil, looks so fluffy! *u * Also the paws look great, I need to practice doing paws, they're the hardest part for me xu x;Β

DragonsPixels In reply to StephanieRosario [2014-01-20 15:37:32 +0000 UTC]

That's just 4 hours colouring. The sketch and pixel lines were another couple of hours.

And yeah, I have been told by a few people that I draw fast but when I know what I'm drawing I can get it done in no time. It's when I'm unsure or can't think of how to draw something that I take forever.

Paws were the bane of my life at one point.

StephanieRosario In reply to DragonsPixels [2014-01-20 22:46:34 +0000 UTC]

oooh but still I think 4 hours is pretty quick xDD I would probably take much longer xDD But as you said it really depends on how comfortable I am with what I'm drawing as well ou o

really? xD We'll you are awesome at them, I have to continue practicing so I don't hate drawing them so much xDDΒ

DragonsPixels In reply to StephanieRosario [2014-01-21 08:55:22 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I mean, my friends used toΒ  do this silly tests and make me and someone else draw the exact same thing to see how 'fast' I can actually draw... Turns out very lol. It's the one advantage I've always had over other students in college. I used to get twice or three times the amount done of most students.

Lol mine aren't perfect but they'll do. Yup yup, practice makes perfect! I just started looking at paw anatomy and stuffs and then made my own style off that.

goosh that's awesome, I'm one of the slowest people cuz I like my stuff to look really good xDD (Doesn't help that I nitpick at everything too xDD ) So most of the time i spend extra hours at home on the weekends to get my art done. (Not that I don't work on them at college, cuz I do xDD I've even stayed in the class extra time to get more work done xDD )

Yeaaah i gotta gather some refs for the anatomy O:Β

DragonsPixels In reply to StephanieRosario [2014-01-21 21:11:49 +0000 UTC]

I do the same thing but because when I know what I'm drawing I tend to be able to do it first - third time sketching and then after that it's not so hard.
As long as the initial sketch is alright then I'll happily carry on with a drawing. If the sketch isn't perfect then I'll sit for hours fixing it.

These are 2 that I've had a quick look through at one point. I didn't use them exactly to be honest but it was a stepping stone to seeing how other people shape them in order to shape them myself through my own style.
fav.me/dssph7 fav.me/d4ou9dt
Other than those I just spent alot of time looking at the skeletal structure of the toes.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

StephanieRosario In reply to DragonsPixels [2014-01-22 23:32:20 +0000 UTC]

lol oh yah I've tried to fix sketches for hours before..its crazy xDD Now a days I try to keep sketches simple and make them better as I go into the lineart or colors or whatever it is that I'm going to do with the final drawing. Making mini thumbnail sketches is pretty helpful for basic pose layout and also for planning the composition without having to screw up the bigger piece xD But most of the time I do the first sketch immediately on the final paper, especially if it's something I already know how to draw well enough.

I've seen people who do that, studying the skeletal structure O: I tend to study the muscular anatomy more xDDD skeletal scares me...it looks so complex xD (for an entire body)
Β lol but yaaah that's a pretty helpful tutorial, especially for newbies like me lol

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DragonsPixels In reply to StephanieRosario [2014-01-23 08:35:43 +0000 UTC]

I wish I could do that. I think my OCD takes over my sketches and makes them near perfect before I go any further. Thing is, if the sketch has anatomy mistakes then I find it near impossible to fix them at later stages.

It's not so hard, I only looked at the structure of the feet. Muscle anatomy is good for the kind of build you need on something and it helps with where shading should go but it doesn't show you exactly how the body is shaped which is why it's good to look at the skeletal structure of whatever you're drawing. Once you see how the bones connect it makes it easier to draw them in right places.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

StephanieRosario In reply to DragonsPixels [2014-01-23 21:33:45 +0000 UTC]

Yeah that's true, gotta be careful with anatomy mistakes O: I was actually a lot like that before, i would fix absolutely everything before moving on from the sketch phase but now I try to simplify it just for the sake of saving time. I'm pretty comfortable with human anatomy so I can sketch bodies pretty fast now a days depending on the poses and such. What usually takes me a while is the details on clothes, if I decide to add a bunch of little decorative things (Usually on girl's dresses or hair accessories )

Yeah makes sense O: I was thinking about that this morning xDD Both skeletal and muscle structures would be good to study O: I gotta try that again, because I did learn to make hands look a little better by studying the bones and how they connect xDDDΒ

DragonsPixels In reply to StephanieRosario [2014-01-24 10:18:15 +0000 UTC]

That's where my ability to draw fast comes in handy for me lol. I'm too much of a perfectionist to leave things alone majority of the time so being able to draw quickly is a huge advantage to me purely for myself because of me not being able to leave stuff alone.

The reason I'm getting back into people is cause I want to learn how to draw anthro, that's just animal and human anatomy combined to me so if I learn to draw those then in theory I should be able to understand anthro more.

Lol well there you go . Thing is for me, I already know how to draw people and the anatomy and blah blah blardy blah blah but it's just been so long since I drew them that I can't draw them how I used to.

StephanieRosario In reply to DragonsPixels [2014-01-24 15:39:50 +0000 UTC]

haha that's good I've been thinking about trying to increase my drawing speed. O: Because i'm a total perfectionist too x'DΒ

Makes sense and I agree, I think you would definitely have an easier time if you practice human anatomy first Β

lolol yahΒ
oh yah that too, you just got a little rusty. Happens to me too xDDD But if it was something I used to draw all the time, I would eventually get the hang of it again with a little practice warm up.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DragonsPixels In reply to StephanieRosario [2014-01-24 18:47:02 +0000 UTC]

It's a good thing to be able to do. I started out by doing 5 - 10 minutes sketches in class - An exersice my teacher made us do to get us used to not spending too much time on one drawing. From doing those I realised just how much I could draw in a short amount of time and it's something I just got more and more comfortable with and now draw at lightning speeds!

I know most of it, just need to get back into practice with it all but I've never drawn people digitally so that's like a whole added layer of learning for me to do.
I think I'll get the hang of it again eventually but I end up being really hard on myself when things fail cause I used to be able to draw the same kinda stuff on a daily basis with no problems to now spending hours on a sketch that I end up scrapping.

StephanieRosario In reply to DragonsPixels [2014-01-25 15:49:41 +0000 UTC]

oh wooow that sounds like a good exercise O: I should try it myself Β

Oh yah I know the feeling, but it's okay even if you fail, it just means you need to keep practicing Afterall, every artist, even the "gifted" ones, need to practice in order to develop their skills It's the same when one hasn't drawn something in particular for a while xD It's like we gotta reteach ourselves to get the hang of it again xD Fun fun heeheeΒ

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DragonsPixels In reply to StephanieRosario [2014-01-25 20:57:25 +0000 UTC]

You should get a stop watch or something and time yourself, or is you have a clock or phone you can set an alarm on and give yourself 15 minutes to draw something simple.

I noes, it just gets a little discouraging on occassion, that and not having much time to do anything decent lol.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DragonsPixels In reply to StephanieRosario [2014-01-30 10:37:55 +0000 UTC]

It was 10 just from one person. Another person had 17, I have 5 left of those to do. Then there was just bits and pieces from a few other people.

I don't usually let them pile up so much but because 2 people ordered so many things in one go I got kinda swamped.

perhaps give people a limit on how much they can order at a time so that next time you aren't overloaded with too many? O:Β
