Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! I'm almost out of outtakes, but since it's a special time I thought I'd show you guys probably the most pivotal of the bunch. This was originally going to be page 3 of the comic - with the rest going in an uncertain direction - but literally as I was getting ready to post it I took a step back and - after consulting a friend or two (because only a fool listens to himself 100% of the time) decided to stretch things out a bit for the sake of both our main characters. Nick's part was simple enough. As nice as Taelia might look in a swimsuit, it didn't quite seem consistent with the Nick Wilde we know and love to just melt at the sight of her. Besides, it would be centering his attraction to her on her classy chassis. Taelia's side of things, unsurprisingly, was a good deal more complicated.

As readers of Something Stinks (my first fic to involve Taelia) and Santa Clawed (a prequel of sorts to this comic) know, Taelia has something of a history of bad relationships ranging from guys who just seemed better before she got to know them all the way to the underhanded and even downright emotionally abusive. I still haven't dropped all the details of what she's been through to any but a select few for advice purposes, but with that kind of baggage it just didn't seem right to have her up and display herself to Nick - let alone go out of her way to do so - without delving at least a little into the walls of betrayal she had to climb over to get to that point.

Readers of Rendez-Bleu - particularly chapter 2, which is now posted (link below) - will notice that Taelia's hesitation doesn't show quite as clearly, and had I planned this out more thoroughly in advance I might have arranged something more like how that version's going to end. Can't say how that'll be, naturally, since that would ruin the surprise, though I can promise it will offer a good deal more action and maybe a little more coziness. What ultimately made the difference between fic and comic was Taelia's bashfulness on page 2 (also linked below). Whereas in the fic I was able to present her mental preparation as something that mostly took place before the date with some help from Judy, in this case I didn't really see how I could do it quite as well without altering this page and the ones that followed to paint her reluctance more clearly.
