Description There is an alt world which for the moment I call "Amphibomorpha", an alternative earth where the carboniferous climate never went away because Pangea did not form, having a very humit Permian and without the P/T mass extinction event, giving rise to the diversification of rare varieties of tetrapods, some recognizable as Synapsid and others such as the various descendants of other Reptilomorphs and the Temnospondyls, which some of the last evolved in Amniote-like forms.
Although events of massive extinction have occurred subsequently as on our planet, the result of the initial divergence point has given an aberrant variety of terrestrial and marine creatures the majority descendants of these varied groups of reptilomorphs and Temnospondyls.
One already known is the Fluvial Gigamouth , but there are more.

On the coasts of some tropical islands in a territory that would be in our world the caribbean, there are a variety of rare amphibians with a chubby body, similar to that of a seal in our world, but with a fairly developed fluke tail, which shows is probably a kind of marine habitat becoming secondarily terrestrial, but more strangely capable of manipulate tools thanks to the use of long tentacle-like appendices, and even create fire, joining in small huts made from the surrounding plants, these are The Opisthosiren, a sophont with an advanced intelligence comparable to that of Paleolithic humans.

This genus came from a radiation of very odd semiaquatic tetrapods, these being descended from Temnospondyls that adapted to saltwater during the Jurassic, and during Cretaceous evolved into a rare species of catfish-like forms, developing several of the external gills as sensorial structures, and later after the K/Pg event, a surviving radiation of these went further and derived some of these sensory gills in "tentacles". The clade which these belongs is called Branchimembrumia, a group of medium-size omnivores which live on the coasts around the planet with few freshwater species, characterized by the use of their tentacled appendices as manipulators for various uses depending on the niche they cover.

I dunno but this reminds me of the kalichampa that I made for Orpheus 4 a while back

Heh, that was the main inspiration to make the Opisthosiren
I really liked the design, and I saw a bit of potential for a sophont, like a mix of a cetacean with seal trails and tentacles around its face

 > Pangea did not form
> Caribbean islands,  mainly in Cuba

Is it just me seeing contradictions? Why not just write "tropical islands"

I always love these alternate earth creatures.

I'm trying to think of creatures of an earth that lacks the moon, any suggestions
