Two years have passed since Team Plasma fell, but we still feel the remnants of it. But I refuse to let it get me down.

A year ago Mom and Dad moved to Aspertia City to open a shop for the milk and eggs we sell from our ranch. They left Brandon and I at the ranch to run it. Since Team Plasma fell, the Sage who helped him get out of trouble still sends Pokemon here. Mostly Pokemon eggs for us to watch over, orphaned ones, stolen ones who they couldn't find the owners of, that sort of thing. See, this Sage guy kept part of Team Plasma together, the "good" side I guess, and they do humanitarian work to try and repay for the actions of Team Plasma before. A lot of what they do is rehabilitating abused and stolen Pokemon. Brandon's stayed strongly involved, and even I call myself a member of Team Plasma, the good ones. Brandon gave me an old identification badge with a symbol of a P. I keep it in my bag for luck. I want to help Pokemon, just like Brandon and Team Plasma.

So that leads me to today - the day I set out on my Pokemon journey.

Brandon supported me in my decision - he even gave me the idea. See, I'll be starting with Kitt as my starter Pokemon. It works great for me - Kitt is my best friend, ever since he hatched. We're inseperable. He's serious nature, proud of his power. He's tough, a strong fighter, and calm when I'd freak out. On the other hand, I keep him from being a stick-in-the-mud. He's the best friend I could ask for. Plus, with his Pickup ability and Thief attack he learned, he's an awesome thief, which is hilarious. Not that we steal anything bad, like Pokemon. We just nick cookies from the pantry sometimes. It's fun.

But what I really love to do is raise Pokemon. I want to be a breeder when I grow up. I've had plenty of experience with it, what with the ranch Pokemon. The ranch has tons of eggs though, stolen ones, and I wanted to give those eggs a chance to have a proper trainer and learn and grow. Plus, I've been itching to see the world, to see the rest of Unova. I've only ever seen this corner of it. I haven't even been to Virbank City.

Professor Juniper comes by this time of year, to Aspertia City, to give out Starter Pokemon and Pokedexes to new trainers. So Brandon agreed with me, and so did Mom and Dad. I'd set out on a journey, challenge the gyms, Kitt and I. And we'd train the eggs on the ranch, too.

"Just send me any Pokemon you catch," Brandon told me, "And I'll swap them for one of the ranch eggs for you to train."

I was super excited. Kitt was excited too, in his own way. "A journey will be good for you." He said to me, lying lazily on a branch as I packed my things. "It'll teach you to take things seriously once in a while."

I chucked a rolled up sock at him. "Aw, lay off it, you big fuzzbucket." I laughed. "You're just as excited as I am, and you know it."

We laughed, then he hopped on my shoulder. I grabbed the last of my things and hugged Brandon goodbye. Before I left, he handed me something.

It was a metal badge, narrow and purple with gold trim. "It's a Basic Badge," he told me. "I got it when I first left and became a trainer. I fought Lenora and won, but that was it...I figure, you can take the badge and get a headstart on things, you know? Make me proud."

I hugged him all the harder, grinning through the tears in my eyes. So we got our first badge without even battling. Then we headed out, leaving Baker Ranch, my home, behind.

On the way, we stopped by the neighboring ranch, Flocessy Ranch. We're good friends with Mark and Annie, the owners of the ranch. I hopped the fence and Kitt perched on my shoulder. I wanted to tell them the good news, about me going on a journey.

They were looking for Scruff, one of their Herdiers. He'd gone missing. Their other Herdier, Cottonball, was running around and barking loudly. "Scruff! Scruff! Where's Scruff?" She was barking.

So Kitt and I helped them look. We went back into the woods behind their ranch. That was when something weird happened.

We saw a man dressed in dark clothes, with a beret, and he was trying to grab Scruff. The Herdier was backed against a tree, snarling threateningly. When the man heard us, he whipped around, and for a brief second, I saw a blue badge on his chest. It was emblazoned with a P.

Plasma?

Then the man ran off into the brush. I scooped up a frazzled Scruff and took him back to our neighbors, who were grateful.

After that, we continued on to Aspertia City. We met Professor Juniper's assistant, an overly enthusiastic girl about Brandon's age who was giving the Pokedex's out. Her name was Bianca.

That's when I saw Alan again.

He had a Snivy on his shoulder - Leaf. That Snivy had been his pal from before, when we were all friends. Before Team Plasma. A lump rose in my throat when I saw him.

I knew, now, why he had punched me and hated me so. While his family was on vacation, a pair of Plasma grunts had stolen his little sister's pet Purrloin, Fluffy. He's hated Plasma ever since. And even though he doesn't hate me any more, we're not friends like we used to be. Before Plasma, I would have sleepovers at Alan's house, we played games in the playground together, we tried baking cookies once (and burned them horribly...) But now, things were always cool between us. Frosty.

It stung to see him again. Especially when he noticed me, with Kitt on my shoulder, and his face was cold.

I got my Pokedex and thanked Bianca. I met the gym leader, Cheren, and watched Alan run to the gym to battle him. I touched the old Basic Badge in my bag that Brandon had given me, and I sighed.

I visited Mom and Dad at the store. Then Kitt and I left Aspertia City, and headed out. I had Pokeballs now, and I wanted to catch some Pokemon to exchange for eggs with Brandon. It was time to get a proper team.

As we left the city, Kitt looked at me seriously, and asked, "Are you sure you're ready for this, Tabby?"

I didn't hesitate. "Of course I am."

(The reason why I had Brandon give Tabby his old badge, is because in this game, you have to beat the first gym before you can trade. So I actually beat Cheren with an Oshawott. Then I caught a Patrat and traded it for Kitt, hatched him, and then boxed the Oshawott forever. XD

In case it isn't clear, Alan is the rival in Remnants.

I'm going to stream hatching my first Pokemon next. Woohoo, so exciting! )

As we left the city, Kitt looked at me seriously, and asked, "Are you sure you're ready for this, Tabby?"
