Description
The dark tunnel entrance to Victory Road lay before us. My team was trained, and I was ready. So onward we went.

The tunnels made way into forested paths, up and down cliffs and rocks, and finally climbing up through the mountain itself. It was a rough, harrowing journey, but my team was strong. It took us a full day to make it through Victory Road. We fought many trainers and caught a lot of wild Pokemon.

And then, finally, we came to the peak, where the castle of the Elite Four stood before us.

Of course I wasn't about to challenge it. The moment we had the Elite Four marked on my map, I got Fang from the ranch and flew down the mountain, all the way to Nimbasa City.

I had some catching up to do. In between Plasma and craziness and being a legendary hero, I had caught...let's see...thirteen new wild Pokemon, to then trade for eggs. So, since Nimbasa was a nice place to hatch eggs, I got thirteen eggs from Brandon and set to work hatching them.

And what a motley bunch it was that hatched. It took two weeks in Nimbasa to hatch them all, about one a day.

I'll just go down and tell you about them, in no particular order.

The first to hatch, I think, was a little boy Sneasel. I named him Eugene. He's Bashful, often lost in though, and his ability is Pickpocket. He's a gentle little guy, very shy and quiet.

Then there was Snow. Snow is an Absol with very pale white fur, hence her name. She's a little sweetheart, a little clumsy and self-conscious. Modest nature, scatters things often. Her ability is Super Luck, and she hatched with quite the moveset - X-Scissor and Shadow Claw. She's not ready to fight yet, though.

Interestingly enough, from the moment the two of them hatched, Snow and Eugene were inseparable. They spend every minute together, best friends, and quite possibly more than that. In that adorable little-kid kind of a crush, way. It's actually really adorable. Like they were meant to be together.

After those two, Anna hatched. Anna is a Pinsir, and what a Pinsir! She's definitely the largest of all the little ones I've had. Her ability is Mold Breaker, and she's near silent. Quiet nature, often lost in thought. A very intellectual little gal, even though she's a tough fighter, from the looks of her moveset. She knows Brick Break, X-Scissor, Swords Dance and Rock Slide! When she did finally start to talk, interestingly enough, she speaks with the same accent as Maria. She and Maria are good friends because of it, they bond on a level I can't quite understand. But it's great.

Alright, who else...Oh, there's Hermit, the Dwebble. Being a fellow bug type, he and Anna bonded as well. They're close friends. He's Adamant, mischievous, so he mostly likes messing around with Anna and teasing her, but she takes it all in stride. He's join the gang, I'd guess you'd call it - the group of pranksters that was started by Leon.

Eugene got two more friends, two other boys. A Zangoose and a Totodile. The Zangoose I named Flynn, and he's a silly, light-hearted little guy, but he also loves to sleep. Quirky nature, often dozes off. He's wild when he gets a mood though - since he hatched knowing Ice Beam, Fire Blast and X-Scissor. The Totodile is Rocky. He's Jolly nature, sturdy body, and just loves to laugh and play around. He hatched knowing Scald, so he and Flynn love playing "sauna" and firing Scald at Ice Beam to see which wins.

Then I hatched Creek the Buizel, Sparks the Rotom, and Johnny the Eevee. Creek is Hardy, quick-tempered. Sparks is Naive, somewhat stubborn. And Johnny is Bold, likes to thrash about. All three of them are strong willed, adventurous little boys, and they love to get in arguments with one another. But they stick together, besides.

Then there was Hancock, the Rufflet. He's a fuzzy little chick, Quirky, proud of his power. He aspires to be a great battler, like Fang, who he has taken on as his idol. He hatched knowing Hone Claws and Aerial Ace, so when he wants to fight hard, he can. He's best friends with perhaps the strongest one I hatched.

Jared.

I'm amazed by Jared. I can tell that someone took great time and effort breeding him, before Plasma stole his egg. Jared is a Torchic, and if any of the Pokemon were a leader for the whole group of thirteen, it would be Jared.

He's Brave nature, capable of taking hits. He's a strong, careful, proud Pokemon, a born leader. He would take on any challenge. And the thing is, he could take it. He hatched knowing Swords Dance and Protect, which makes him a powerful match for the other little ones. But the most amazing thing about Jared is his ability - rather than Blaze, it's Speed Boost.

Jared is also the fastest, by far. He zips around like a bright orange comet. Hancock is his best friend in the team, and Hancock looks up to him greatly.

The last two to hatch were interesting. First, there was Elana. Another Deino. And a girl.

With all the grief I've been having with Belle and Charlotte, I decided, like I did with Gemini, that I would not evolve Elana into a Zweilous. She doesn't mind that decision. She's very interested in other things - other someones, that is. I sent Elana to the ranch, and there she met Gemini.

It was love at first sight for her - more like love at second sight for Gem. He was completely shocked at first.

Elana is Naughty nature, somewhat stubborn. She's fiery and excitable and absolutely smitten with Gemini. And he warmed up to her as well. He's a bit of a more calm soul, so he enjoys her antics. Plus the amount of attention she lavishes on him is quite flattering. And, of course, he finds it immensely funny to let her chase him. (He likes to run, after all.)

They're quite the funny pair. But watching them makes me feel even more anxious about what to do, with Belle/Charlotte, Fang, and Leon. At the moment, I just can't think about it.

Anyway, the last to hatch was a surprise and a delight. For many reasons.

It was an Axew. I was excited for another rare Dragon type, that wasn't a Deino. I named him David. He's gentle natured, strong willed, a real kind and solid little guy. But then I discovered what attacks he knew. He only knew two, and they were nothing special. Just Scratch, and an interesting attack called Round. It was then that it hit me -

David is a singer.

He's got a strong baritone, even for a little one. From the moment he hatched, he loved to sing. And that's what drew Maria to him.

They sing together all the time now. It's beautiful to hear - Maria's clear alto with his baritone. Sometimes they hit off notes or don't harmonize, but then they laugh and keep singing. Maria tells him all about the adventures she's had since she hatched all those months ago, back on that Christmas night. David listens, enraptured by her.

And for the first real time since that night, Maria is content to be apart from me. She isn't lonely anymore. And that makes me so happy.

It's nearly summer now. The air is getting warmer. The little ones are all getting older. After everything that happened with Kyurem, and with Alan being reunited with Fluffy, it's gotten me thinking. By the way, I met Alan towards the end of Victory Road, and we had a fun little battle. He says that Fluffy is starting to remember, he thinks. She lets them all pet her now, and she wanders Aspertia with a look of vague recollection on her face. He's happy, and I'm happy for him and his family.

Anyway, I've decided. Before I challenge the Elite Four, I will take all the Pokemon that I have hatched, and I will train them, at least to level 25, or until they evolve fully. And then I want to find proper homes for them. Not all of them are content with living on the ranch forever, I think. Some of them are. But those who are not, I want to find them lives where they can be happy, and loved, and belong there.

So for now, as the summer wanes on, we train outside of Victory Road, training all of my little friends, and my main team too, to prepare. And I've been happy.

(So...many...babies. X'D And yeee, I love how David and Maria are perfect for one another. I mean, a singer Axew? They're both in the same egg group, even! My clingy little Tropius is all grown up. <3 Plus Elana and Gemini, and Snow and Eugene. What can I say? I'm a sucker for letting all these little guys find love. XD)
