Ok, so "Storybook" is not a good way to describe film noir-based fiction, but this is an illustration, sooo....

Meet Saint!

This is an experimental piece-- I'm trying to get the mood of film-noir without making it look like old-school comic books (not that I don't like them. I just can not do them justice. D: )

I like playing with line variation and the absence of line in places when he's so heavily outlined, but I'm not sure I like the lack of detail in his center (coat, torso, hands in pockets, etc.). >_> I'll keep playing with it.
I'm also going to fiddle with contrasts, once I get onto a computer with photoshop, and see if stark blacks and dull grays add to the drama of the piece.
