Falling Down

They had lost so much, everything Tobiah knew had been taken away, his friends, Kai, Ivan, Chelsea, among many others. The wide open plains of Air Empire's territory, the comforting feel of the warm sun on his back as he raced towards that day's prey, usually birds or large rats, squirrels even. The feeling of freedom, he could go wherever he wanted. The creator's whispers in his ears as he awoke from soft dreams, or in the way a feather would land near by, the brushing of the wind when his thoughts were dark, a gentle comfort and reminder that he wasn't alone.

Then it was all wretched away forever, the once beautiful fields burned by a fire, followed by a sickness that took many more, he tried to stop it, tried to find a cure yet could not, failed, it was too late. Soon lions attacked the sick empire weaking them, and then the Hunters landed the final blow. Air Empire? Was no more, gone, forever.

Was this punishment? Had he taken for granted the gifts of the Creator? Perhaps, or maybe it was something else. Tobiah wondered, on those long cold nights inside the cages with his only remaining companion, Vanya. Perhaps it was a shifting of world views, a call to repentant of his narrow-minded thoughts on the humans and Hunters. Maybe the the universe was trying to teach him something, something he didn't want to see but had too. At least, he still had Vanya, and perhaps maybe he could start new... Afresh.... Maybe.

Still, on some cold nights he dreamed of Air Empire and wondered if the ache in his heart would ever go away.

Tobiah's AC! I wanted to do a thing where he's like falling from Air Empire into the city, so that was the idea behind this XD. Including his favorite girl Vanya of course hehe.
