I love the ember-like luminous growths. Certainly wouldn't want to tangle with one of these!

This is absolutely fantastic. I adore the colors and the way you blended and faded everything together to really make the creature look believable. His tail is probably my favorite part, just because of the way you layered the scales and the variety of things to look at. Although that glowing scythe-wing is pretty sweet too.

Wild! Looks, lol, very familiar to my screecher design.. except much cooler. Not trying to point fingers or anything, who's original anymore right? I'm really liking your jaw structure, but the extra/wing limbs seem to be a little non-functional - wouldn't the musculature generally need to hold the talons forward? At the moment they appear to be more designed as wing arms instead of talons. While I like the 'weight' of the tail, it looks like it may be a little too heavy since the screecher is dragging it. Overall I'd say that this guy has a fairly canine feel, would I be right about that? And just out of curiosity, why is this guy called a screecher?

I haven't seen your screecher, I'd love to though- wheres it at?
The musculature could probably use some work, and I think I would have to do some more sketches to properly convey the idea I had going for it showing this dude in action or in motion... The idea is that they don't extend out directly in front of the creature, rather flay out wide on it's sides- it would turn its body to stike something in front of it in a wide sweeping motion. It's also a partially arboreal creature and it uses those as support limbs climbing about massive vine-like structures more often than weapons.... and as for his tail, I think I had something like an alligator or a gecko's tail in mind, often dragging it on the ground but able to lift it when needed.
I suppose he is a bit like a canine, I don't think I had a specific animal in mind when designing them. I imagined they do make very loud screeches audible across vast distances though- hence the name Perhaps they hunt in packs like wolves? who knows.

Heh, as I said, yours looks much cooler, but here are a couple of mine from over the years: [link] , [link] , and here is a commission I had done from nanya: [link] - which of course knocks my socks off. I have another version I did a couple months ago which almost looks like I could be an artist some day : /, but it was turned into school for a homework assignment. hehe, I literally have a camera in my bag to remind me to take a picture of it.. but I keep forgetting.
Again let me say I'm not pointing fingers or anything, I just found it amusing that you would have a similarly designed creature with the same name. Though mine is named from an ability it has, similar to the dragons of Reign of Fire where they would mix two chemicals from glands in their mouths and blow out fire. Except the screecher's glands would be lower in the body in the mid-torso region, and instead of a mixture creating fire the chemicals mix into a very hot and excited state creating a plasma (or mixture of gas and liquid). As this substance rips out of the creature's throat (along with much of the esophagus material), it makes a high pitch screech - and stupid humans named them what they sounded like. They can't do it very often because its a little self destructive, but being able to melt through an enemy's armor is worth it sometimes ; ). I like how your design is based off of actual use in an environment, mine is more like a genetic adaptation toward a destructive tool.. I need to think more along your lines - makes it seem more real.
I hope my childish drawings are amusing : ), and that I have something better to show soon. I'm really only starting into the medium of 3d now, so I *should* be blossoming out into a real artist soon, hehe. Crossing my fingers ; ).

Oooh very cool, they do look kinda similar! Plasma spitting is a pretty neat idea, I love the eye design on yours as well.
Hit me up when you do some 3d stuff, would love to see what you come up with

That is unbelievably brilliant!!!!
How many years did it take for you to be able to put that amount of detail in your pictures? I've been experimenting on detail for my dragons and they're crap compared to yours.
Thats fantastic, good work.

damn I'd say I'm a picky judge when it comes to sci-fi deviations, but your anatomy and coloring is semi-godly. The double jaw was barely noticeable among the whole picture but it might be my favorite corner of the deviation. Lovely weight in the tail and radiating energy in the back horns too.

But it's so niiiiiceeee
I use it on occasion, too. It gives the art such a nice athmosphere somehow, not too cold, not too warm.
And you're very welcome
