To tell you the truth I'm not quite sure why i did this but 9-11 was all that was on my mind the back ground number (3,047) is the current body count for the attack. I think the girl represents the American body as a whole. her lips should be red (ideal American woman: blonde hair, blue eyes, and red lips) but i originally was doing it in all blue pen before i coloured her hair and added the flag, smoke, building in the back, and blood. I cant really explain it.This should be in sketched but that would take it to scraps and its not a scrap.

Very poignant and rather skillfully done, considering it was done in pen. I like the fact that you somewhat suggested a figure with the bloodstains under the otherwise flat cloak. At first, I thought the hair clip was a bit too playful for the subject matter, but later decided that it denotes how very modern and recent the tragedy is. I like it, although I question your ideal American woman theory, lol. I suppose that's more a media thing. Very nice.
