WCC 2018 - RESULTS

Jarin shivered as he slid his coat off to get changed into his outfit for the Dressage on Ice event. He thought it was one of the most beautiful ideas he had ever heard of and despite really not being a fan of the cold, he made sure he could be there. This was kind of his last chance at dressage for a while. Sydney had made his point that without his Dressage instructor around...he wasn’t going to be able to get any better at it. Maybe he should just commit to western...
He carefully unfolded his suit and smiled at all the little flowers on it. He always had a soft spot for flowers. They were so pretty. The irony of wearing flowers in the snow. How something so out of place could fit right in. He hoped he could do the same as he pulled the suit up over his shoulders. And boy, did he feel the breeze on his backside!
He reached behind him to grab the zipper and gave a tug but it only came up to the small of his back. He strained and bent himself in half trying to get that zipper up all the way, but it wasn’t having it! Jarin was fearful he’d send the wrong message by being the budding nudist at this rate!
He carefully peeked out of the bathroom stall. Maybe if he could find someone to help him out… but at the same time, he didn’t want anyone to know… If he did it quietly and secretly...just wait for someone to pass by and give a little whisper. Yes… Jarin squinted, eyes darting left and right, looking for the right person. The moment he spotted someone he whispered loudly, “U-uh hey! C-could you come in here a sec?” Not that he realized how incredibly awkward it was to be some guy whispering to a girl to come join him in the bathroom…
The woman looked up from rummaging in her baggage for her tack to find a boy staring at her, like he was having a crisis, from the doorway of the male restroom. She raised an eyebrow. Was he having boy problems? Costume malfunction? Was he a lonely creeper? Cautiously she approached, “What do you need?”
“...Can you do me a favor?” Before things really got awkward, Jarin retreated back into the bathroom, turned around, and out came a butt as he crouched down, trying to stay hidden. A hand poked out and pointed at the zipper half way up his back, followed by a desperate plea, “Help?”
She nonchalantly obliged and grabbed the zipper, “I’ve had to do this with our male rider and my sister so on the count of 3, suck it in, dear.” Her motherly/firm tone was echoing through the bathroom, “1…2…3” she pulled the zipper up to the top and sighed, “Jesus, all this work for a Dressage class..”
Jarin wasn't one to care about his own personal looks but looking in front of the mirror, he couldn't help but feel cheery! Flowers! “I think it's great!” He exclaimed happily. “Have you seen all the outfits? Everyone is so pretty! And all the horses look so pretty too! It's so exciting!! My dressage instructor would kill me if he ever saw me here,” Jarin chuckled bashfully. His instructor was much more modest and polished at all times. Costume classes were not what he considered necessary in his field of expertise.
“But it might be my last dressage show for a while. So it's worth it to me!”
She hummed and thought, “I think I have a lovely idea that would make your outfit complete. I’d love to do something with your hair and flowers?”
Jarin was twinkling like he was made of the glitter on his suit! He couldn’t believe he had met someone so kind to help him out! “Really!? I’d love that!”
Sophie was her name and Jarin was astounded by the group of nice people she was teamed up with; Lukas and Vermont! They were all enthusiastic and has such charming horses! Jarin had kind of kept his head down at shows before or traveled with people he knew. This was the first time he kind of branched out a little to really go and meet others.
Kind enough to take time out of all of their preparations to help fix his outfit and even add to it, by braiding his hair back and adding a clip of flowers. He never had anybody “doll” him up before! Jarin took the mirror after Sophie had finished up, honestly unsure what he was going to see. It was weird to feel his hair pulled back for the first time maybe ever. Upon first glance, he gasped and fumbled with the mirror. He caught it in his lap and looked again, a smile spreading across his face. “S-Sophie! Woooooowwww!~” Jarin turned his head to the side, admiring the braids and the pretty flowers pinned up to hold them. His eyes sparkled with awe! “This is so cool!”
He slowly stood up out of his chair, gently touching the flowers, loving how they looked. His smile never wavered from the warm glow it radiated. Truly enamored with her work. He finally looked up from the mirror, his eyes getting watery. He shifted awkwardly before giving in and just giving her a hug anyway, “Thank you so much! You’re incredible!” He pulled away, holding his arm bashfully, “How can I ever thank you? You’ve done something so nice for me and you hardly know me. I-I can braid manes super good so if you ever need a mane braided, I can do it for you! Or maybe clean your bits? I can do all of that! Just let me know! I’ll do it!”
Sophie smiled at his excitement, it was kinda endearing, like a kid who got something they wanted for years for Christmas or something. “...maybe you can be Lukas's braiding buddy? The poor guy can't braid for the life of him, quite sad really. After warm-up would you mind braiding his horse’s mane?”
Jarin nodded his head vigorously, a goofy smile plastered across his face, “I can do that! I help braid all the time! I even braided for Dave Burton so believe me, Fame will be looking awesome! Ah- warm up! Right!” Jarin turned on his heel, about to dart off before he turned back around again. He clapped his hands together and gave a humble bow before Sophie, “Thank you again! Thank you, thank you for being so nice and helping me out! I won’t let you down! I promise!”
And with that, he had to dart off to get ready for his own class with a smile on his face, feeling pretty special to have a total outfit now, head to toe. And just wait until they got a load out of what Abe was wearing!
With all horses braided and accounted for, it was Jarin’s time to shine...literally. With dazzling rhinestones and a billowing cape aboard his white stallion that made the snow pale in comparison, the budding rider entered the ring.
A bittersweet feeling under Jarin. So much power and potential churning underneath him. Jarin didn’t want the ride to end. He let the stallion draw out his extensions, sweeping across the ground, stretching and reaching before him. His passage: elegant and controlled with every step. The two were cohesive, flowing together like sweet syrup. But they weren’t without tension as Jarin’s emotions fueled his cues to the stallion. The rise and fall of excitement. All of these nice people around. All of these fantastic horses. Would he see them again if he weren’t doing dressage?
As Jarin entered into his final pirouette, the wind caught his cape and wrapped around him. Not the image he had in mind for his last performance - shrouded and reserved. What was the point of all the hard work those kind people had put in if it was all covered up? If this was his last Dressage show, then they deserved to see it all! Jarin grabbed that silly cape and flung it into the air, flower petals scattering into the breeze with it!

Did they belong? Maybe not. But maybe it was a reminder that the snow would melt away one day. And after the long, cold days came the rise of something beautiful, despite the hardships.
And the bud burst from the cold ground to see the brilliant light once again.

Well that got poetic at the end. All in good time. It all has a meaning down the road. x'') For now, it seems ol' Abe is gonna be sat in his stall off the circuit for a while. Ol' Sydney's convinced our flower boi that western is where the fun is at!
BUT LOOK HOW PRETTY HE IS. (both of them really xD) I've been chomping at the bit to do this show the second it went up and I saw Ice Skater outfits as the inspiration. HELLO GLITTER TIME. COME TO DADDY. So naturally I went overboard xD I CAN'T HELP MYSELF WHEN IT COMES TO SPARKLY THINGS and my precious Booty Babe Squad <3
Btw: I don't think it's a good idea to skate with that cape. But...it's fabulous. So it stays. P: fite me.
