Alrik stood outside of Libby's stall. He looked trapped in though about something.
Alma , his twin sister, happened to be walking down the same aisle after visiting her mount, Maya. She noticed the expression on his face, 'Maybe he has a bill due soon...he looks constipated...'
Alma decided this was not the time to bother him. If he financial decisions to make, she didn't want to bother him for fear he wouldn't be able to poop for a week. Alma was about to step into the tack room to put her halter and lead up when Alrik spoke to her first, "Alma."
Alma jumped and leaned out of the tack room door, "Yes?" 'Please don't ask me about money.' She was about to offer a good recipe on a tea that served as a laxative...
Alrik looked back at Libby, "You're going to participate in the costume contest, right?"
Alma was very relieved that this wasn't about money or digestion. She smiled and stepped out of the tack room, "Yea! I've already got an outfit planned for Maya!"
Alrik nodded but didn't say anything.
Alma looked at Libby, sleeping quietly in her stall. She was a big, stout mare but very patient. Alma asked quietly, "Alrik, are you participating too?"
Alrik flinched a little and blushed, "Well, I thought about it."
Alma shook her head. Her brother was always shy about competitions that involved an artistic spirit. He had no problem if it came to brute strength and skill. But if it came to crafts and creativity, he tended to clam up. Of course, Alma was the opposite. She enjoyed the arts and crafts, though she wasn't good at sports or physical activity. (Though she did like to try.) She was a little surprised that he wanted to participate in the costume contest! But she was glad he was finally trying. It almost brought a tear to her eye.
She knew to treat this topic gentle so he wouldn't get embarrassed and back out, "What costume are you doing?"
Alrik looked frustrated again. "I dunno," he murmured.
Alma smiled and patted his shoulder, "I know you'll come up with something perfect for Libby!"
Alma turned and went back to the tack room. She couldn't help him out too much or he'd get mad later that it wasn't his own creation. It just wouldn't mean the same. She had faith he could do it.
Alrik was surprised his loud-mouthed sister didn't drown him with one thousand stupid costume ideas for Libby. Somehow, he felt relieved. He rolled his eyes and looked back at his sleeping mare with a smile.
She looked so peaceful. he wanted to capture her personality in whatever costume he was going to make.
He snapped his fingers together and hurried out of the barn to get started!

~The day of the costume contest~

Alrik put the finishing touches on Libby's costume. Bead and feathers were draped from her breast collar and a gray cloth tied around her hind legs. The beads were pearl colored, representing her zodiac tree with gray feathers hanging from them.
Libby felt a little embarrassed but proud to don Alrik's costume that he crafted her her. She hoped she would do his work proud!
Alma stepped into the aisle, after finishing her work on Maya's outfit. She caught glimpse at all of the sparkling pearls and gray feathers, "OOOOH!"
Alrik immediately turned a few shades red. He wasn't ready for someone to actually see his costume yet. He hid behind a snarky grin. "She's-uh-a-uh"
Alma stepped close to Libby, "A dream catcher!"
Alrik blinked in surprise. She actually guessed it right. He scratched his arm, "Cuz', ya know, she was sleeping and all..."
Alma patted Libby on the muzzle. She chuckled quietly, "It's very fitting for the lady."
Alma strolled back to Maya thinking to herself, 'Alrik, I don't know who that costume fits better. Libby or you. You're both dreamers.'

Phew! Another one down x'D Soooo when I first sketched this costume out...it looked a lot more complicated xD Then I lined it and realized...it's not that intricate :') But I was far enough in, I wasn't changing course!
Once again, I think I put more into the background than anything else xD At least I'm trying! (*looks back at older backgrounds and dies*)
I'm going to try to get Maya's entry done next! *fingers crossed!*
