Featuring:
Justin McBride on SRR Queen of the Silver Dollar
with a whole pile of ladies:
Lofe , Boots , Mae , Judy , Mona , Summer , Bitch , Asshat , and Honey
Follows After: Noose of Lies
He couldn't say anything to Sydney . He had dreaded what he was going to say to the man after knocking up his sister. He needed that guy in his corner to bounce his feelings off. But... But after the whole trip to get there... And then after Sydney unloaded everything that was happening to him... Justin just felt incredibly insignificant to even bring it up. How did it all come to this?
[[vvv chronologically happens before Noose of Lies vvv ]]
“This sweet angel of mine,” Christopher Durant gave a side nod towards Tequila , “was nice enough to let me tag along. So I will be her own private bodyguard. We will be like peas and carrots, won't we, Ms. Tequila? Some might not say it's a vacation with that offer, but who wouldn't mind being this close to a woman like her? It would be like being in heaven, wouldn't it? Besides, I might come in handy for other things too that she might feel the need for? I let the divine angel decide...what she needs me for...work - or play.”
Justin snorted which turned into a chuckle. Oh boy, it was going to be a long week. “Well, Durant, welcome to the tool bucket.” Felt like almost a little bit of a waste since Tequila said she didn’t want to ride in her races at the rodeos they were going to. He was kind of proud of her that she was finally taking some caution with her condition. She was actually making a sound judgment for the first time ever! Holy shit, was she actually turning from a hot woman to a hot mama?
"His name is Nick and he's gonna be my sweet lil' boy."
"How'd you come up with that name, anyway, mama?" Justin asked curiously.
"Cuz' that's where he's from, dummy!" Tequila giggled.
Justin furrowed his brows, trying to follow her logic. Nick? A place? Oh, godammit. Nicholasville. Pemberley Park. Of course. Of fucking course. Brannons named boys after locations of conception. "Yea? You think of a middle name for him too?" Justin took another swig of his beer. He wasn't sure what kind of answer he was expecting. It just kind of fell out of his mouth.
"Mmmmm, I haven't really decided yet. I thought maybe Ville, but maybe Will or William or- uh," she heard the sound of his spurs walking away. "Damn, he have to pee already? Lightweight," she teased.
Justin downed the rest of the beer, tossed it in a bin and cracked the next open immediately. Son of a bitch. He should have never let her go with that guy. Fucking William Darcy All he did was manipulate her decisions. He doubted Durant was really here on any kind of vacation.
He stopped outside of the barn, leaning on the side of it to get some fresh air. He couldn't tell that woman how to live her life. He couldn't try to warp her thinking or take advantage of her. His guts felt like they weighed a ton. "Fuck me…" he muttered. If he was supposed to be any kind of main character of anything, the door was closing rapidly if he stood any chance of still getting his shot at the girl.
Or was this real life? And he never stood a chance to begin with?
Durant had found him in his time of pouting. He felt he should explain a little more, “You are a good guy, McBride, so I'm not going to pretend with you... Darcy did want me to tag along to keep an eye on Ms. Brannon...but it's because he is worried that she will hurt herself...or the baby. That is the truth. Much can happen around horses but I'm not a babysitter however and she is a grown woman. She can make her own choices just fine. She doesn't need me for that, and I'm not one to tell her. But I'm here to make sure she won't overdo herself, that's all. At this stage...it can still be risky...for the baby.” His brow frowned just a little as he thought of the fact that she had asked him...or rather picked him to be the father...and it was just his stupid honesty that made him tell her the truth, that he wasn't.
“She picked me as a candidate too, you know...not long after arriving at Pemberley...” Durant could only assume that Justin knew well of the ways of the blonde and her appetite in men “...and man...she sure has a funny timing in telling a guy news like that...”
He did get a snort out of Durant's remark about her timing. "Mmm, I bet she was a lot nicer 'bout it to you than she was to me." He readjusted his belt, shivering from the quiver in his guts. He didn't want to reflect on the memory of his balls hitting the roof of his mouth.
"And I'm jus' speculatin' it don't take a brain surgeon to spell it out that I'm thinkin' she was mighty sweet to yer boss too. Hell, I know so. She's always wantin' the best she can have. Smartest, cutest, strongest," he gestured to Durant's size. "Richest…" he stopped himself from rolling his eyes. "Dumbest…" he muttered, taking a drink as he referred to himself without a gesture.
"Ya know," Justin carried on, keeping his voice down for just the two of them, "I honestly don't give a fuck who got her knocked up. It don't matter. But what ain't right is some controlling douchebag that's gonna lock her away because he treats his own fuckin' family like they're stains on his goddamn carpet. And don't pretend like it ain't true. You damn well know how he treats his own sister.” He hung his head, “At this rate, I'm gonna have to do somethin' real fuckin' dumb.”
“Don't be so hard on yourself, McBride...” Durant gave him a ‘gentle’ nudge..
Justin really wasn’t the kind of guy that got jealous. He really tried not to let it cloud his judgement. He just really didn’t like to see people take advantage of another. That Darcy guy was a bad feeling all over. Durant? Well, he could hardly blame the guy for finding benefits of the job. He saw the two sneak off together during the rodeo.
But he let it go. He chose to ignore it. He had a horse to get ready, a class to ride in. He had to live his life and she had to live hers. He didn’t even make a comment when he saw them return to the rodeo. She looked awfully proud of herself. Reapplied lip gloss too. Justin kept his head down, focusing on his horse. He didn’t want to keep being eaten alive by these assumptions and insecurities.
This was the place of merriment and entertainment. Fast action and a good time for those that could win the jackpot in a matter of seconds. It was all for the sake of a good time...
Suddenly the little light there in the parking lot went out and everything was pitch black. Only in a few of the trailers there was still light. Behind them, there was a sudden sound. Durant turned and saw there was like a flickering light against one of the walls of the shower house. That wasn't a mechanical light.
Fire.
It moved too quickly up the wall for it to be ‘natural’. Something helped it, fed it in a way. Making it stronger and getting hold of the wooden wall quicker. Gasoline? Two words came to him. Action and distraction. The sudden darkness seemed to have attracted those still awake too, and some had opened their trailer doors to see what was going on. Perhaps their electricity was gone too? The bad feeling came back. “We need to get back to the trailer...now!”
"Oh, shit!" Justin went straight for the bait, seeing the fire start up. His sense of distress was all too easily triggered being the kind of guy that would give his shirt to just about anyone that asked for it. He blew past Durant's words, thinking him oddly a coward. No time to dwell on that as he made for the flames to make sure no one was in harm's way.
Tequila never saw the threat coming. She squealed, getting jerked back into a strong grip around her throat, dropping her phone. Her mind exploded into all sorts of directions. Was this one of the guys - Justin - playing a prank on her!? Even this was way too aggressive for him! Could be one of her exes or one of those bad guys that couldn't take a hint!
She did the only reflexive instinct she had and dropped a hard hammer fist behind her to smash any bits they thought might get lucky with her tonight. And again! For good measure. As he jerked and grunted, he dropped the towel from her mouth. Tequila bit his arm hard, throwing back an elbow to hit anything behind her.
"You need to ask nicely!" She pouted, crumpling to the ground. She didn't know why her knees got all wobbly and she felt light headed. She flipped around onto her butt, backing away but she couldn't see who the guy was in the dark. "Sorry for bein' rough, sugar, but I'm a lady and I ain't gonna be treated like some hog in a barn!"
Durant didn't think. Usually it wasn't wise to just go in full bore into something, not alone, not without backup but there was no time to think. No time to wait. What he had seen was enough. The punches he got to his face, he hardly felt. There were grunts and groans as the hits landed on both men. One blow landed on Durant’s brow and made blood trickle down his face and into his eye. The other was a slippery son of a bitch and got away from him a few times, ducking away. Then Durant started to get a few lucky punches in succession.
The fury fueled the strength of each blow, being harder than the one before. There is only so much someone could take. Real life is not like the movies where someone could receive blow after blow, feeling nothing then just walking away like nothing. Since each blow was mainly aimed at the other man's abdomen and ribs as well as his face, the man eventually passed out. Not beaten to pulp but not that far from it. Leaving the man at his feet, Durant turned to jump on the next man that had a thin cord around Tequila’s neck.
Where the hell where McBride?!
By the time Justin got back to the trailer, he really thought he had been a hero. Making sure no one was hurt or trapped in the arson. But what he came back to… Tequila was barely conscious. She had a red line around her neck, almost like a burn. Durant was beat to shit and bleeding bad. He had done something dumb, just as he said he would. He wasn’t there. If Durant hadn’t been there like he vowed to be… Tequila…
She was going home. He was going to take her home. After an assault like that out of the blue… he couldn’t carry on like it never happened. He felt the weight of the guilt on his shoulders for not being there. Durant had even said…
This wasn’t a world he knew. Durant explained it was because of William’s status. How the fuck that had anything to do with Tequila… Well, Justin’s stay power was waning. He didn’t want to just step aside or give up. But he just wasn’t that stupid of a guy either to miss all the signs. Durant being there, all the phone calls Tequila was making, the “random” gifts following them around, this bullshit violence…
He felt the nail in his coffin slam down. She left them. She asked for one more rodeo stop. And he was dumb enough to do as she asked. Because he just couldn’t say no to the girl. He so desperately wanted to be the one she wanted. He just wanted to do the right thing and support her decisions. But it was all wrong. She left. She left both him and Durant wandering for her, fearing the worst.
But one phone call made it painfully clear to Justin. Who else could she be running off with by her own choice? At what point was giving up the right answer? Justin saw her drive his truck away and she was out of sight. She was always leaving him behind. At shows. At rodeos. At bars. At parties. Because she could. Because she felt no reason to stay close to him. He wasn’t the cutest, he wasn’t the smartest, the strongest, the richest… He could only be the dumbest. Chasing her around like a stupid puppy.

JUSTIN! He does live! He's been having a time in the background :''D
He wanted to be a good daddy :''C But the lady likes shinier things than his dusty ol' boots.
Oh yea, there's been some violence and shit goin' on? That's a thing.
So, this piece was to represent how the ladies kind of control Justin's life and actions. These are all either Justin's mare or Tequila's. He likes Tequila so damn much :''D He's had a crush on her since they were teens <'3 He might be taking some time to swallow this pill.
