(keep scrolling down, there's a summary way down there, no need to suffer for details <''3)

------------------------------------------------------
NOTE: English is not Tuli's native language; he's learning some words but it's very broken between him and Jarin. I'm not going to provide Tuli's language in his tongue; it will be presented in English. This is because I don't want to provide mis-translations (it's not the point here) and Tuli speaks a language that is very close to what we know as Icelandic but it has slightly different inflections, terms, slang, pronunciations, etc. Sort of like how American, England, and Australian "English" are not quite the same. And I'm not going to invent a whole new language. So, everything is typed in English but Tuli is not always speaking English; I do my best to explain situations where they do and don't understand each other. <3
------------------------------------------------------

Jarin  squinted at his phone. He had never seen the top bar so empty of everything. Hardly a whisper of service, no wifi. Wow, the people out here really lived on the land. Incredible! It filled Jarin with a sense of wonder - and only slight worry that maybe they had the wrong place being so far out in the middle of nowhere. But as they approached, the small barn and outdoor riding arena gave him hope they had reached their destination after a terrible start to their journey.
Tuli , on the other hand, had other worries than where they were headed. The magic here was quite bitter over the first encounter. It made itself very clear that it did not trust Tuli and did not want to be used by Tuli. It stalked him at a distance and hadn’t let up. It was like being stalked by a tsunami halted in time but ready to drown him if he should give it any reason to. Sheesh.
“We’re here!” Jarin exclaimed, causing Tuli to jump slightly. He recognized Fabian’s blue hair anywhere! (because no one else on this planet can have blue hair…that’s not how “main characters” work.) He gave a wave and jogged on over to the outdoor arena where Fabian was working a horse on the lungeline. “Fabian ! Hiii! We made it! Did Abe and Riggy make it!?”
Abe  nickered from one of the loafing sheds he and Riggy were hanging out under just in a paddock to the side. They had been dropped off from a separate flight that had housed the animals. Without the same “gas leak” episode Jarin and Tuli had faced, they had arrived ahead of the boys. Abe recognized Jarin’s voice anywhere and that meant snacks! Riggy  joined in with a nicker too, hearing there might be snacks involved, but quieted down after seeing the magic man was present too.
Tuli squinted at Riggy. If he didn’t have all of the island’s magic on alert, he would have reached out to Riggy to make a case that he really was the least of his worries. Although, if Riggy did have any magic potential, he did perhaps sense that Tuli wasn’t the best example of an innocent man with all the dark magic hovering about him and all of the island's magic trying to avoid/threaten his existence.
After an impromptu and necessary check over the stallions, Jarin introduced the crew briefly: “I don’t know how much Dave  filled you in but we met before at North RidgeRunner, I’m Jarin! This is my personal groom, Tuli,” Jarin announced just a little too proudly, puffing his chest out and giving a sweeping gesture to Tuli, who in short, gave a simple wave and “hallo.” “And these are my stallions, Abe and his son, Riggy! We’re so excited to learn trick riding! I just got an official job at my stable and I’m hoping we can earn a lot of money for the stable if we can do some cool tricks and shows! Maybe and Tuli and I can do it together!” Tuli added an encouraging thumbs up, not totally sure what Jarin had spouted off but figured he was giving the “pregame” speech he had gone over before. “Could you teach us a few tricks? I-I'm a good student! I swear! I don’t even complain if you yell at me! I'd sure love to know how to do some tricks!” he clasped his hands together, feeling like he needed to beg, “Please!?”
Dave had reminded Fabian of Jarin’s “bubbly” personality. Like a child on a sugar rush but he never crashed. Just a constant bouncy, eager ball of energy. With basic introductions out of the way, Fabian addressed the whole point of this “favor” Dave held over his head. Sigh. He had no choice unless he wanted to move to a new planet to avoid Dave. “Of course. However, it’s not something you can do overnight. You need to have a lot of core body strength to be able to hold yourself up to the saddle. And you need to have a solid bond with your horse… are both of your horses reliable in terms of staying on the ground? They won’t just spook off with you at a moment’s notice?”
Jarin felt like he had been training for this his whole life (not really, just a few months…) The yoga and running were going to pay off! Finally! “I've got lots of core strength! Don't you worry about that! I'm all about the core! As for Abe and Riggy, well, I'd trust them with my life! What kind of tricks are we going to learn!? Like magic tricks? Do you jump fire and stuff like that?” Jarin was way pumped about this!
Tuli perked up, hearing the word ‘magic’. Did…Jarin actually know about magic?? He looked to Fabian with a whole new curious interest. With the huge swell of magic looming al around them, perhaps FINALLY someone on this terrible planet knew what the hell was going on!?
Fabian didn’t look convinced that Jarin was ‘all about the core’, or at least, he didn’t look it. He had a lot of muscle around the legs, granted. But his stomach and arms didn’t look like they had quite the same level of care and attention given to them as the rest of him. But hey, perhaps he was wrong. “No magic, but yes, I’ve jumped fire before.” He said amusedly. “I work with my horses both in and out of saddle… but perhaps it will be easier to show you.”
Tuli sighed, visibly deflated, slumping his shoulders, and followed along. Great. Still no magic users. Should have known. Everything around had looked so plain and boring and normal. Sigh. This place sucked as much as everywhere else they had been. He was convinced. Wherever he had ended up was an entirely different planet. SIilar but nothing was right here. Sucks. Sigh.
“These are cossack saddles,” Fabian explained to Jarin and Tuli, leading them into the dusty tack room. “They’re built specifically for trick riding. You can hang off of one of these and you’ve no need to worry about it breaking.”
Jarin was enamored with the weird-looking saddles with loops and handles and pads and all sorts of interesting features. These were neat! “You gotta show me some of the tricks you do! I did a backflip off a capriole once! Can you do that too!? Is that a regular trick? Can you do a handstand on the horse while it spins? That would be so neat!”
Fabian didn’t look all too impressed with the whole backflip off a capriole… what an odd thing to do. It sounded fairly neat, it also sounded like a very easy way to get kicked in the face by a flying horse. “Ah, no. I work practically, what benefit would… doing a handstand on a horse have?” He questioned, arching an eyebrow at Jarin. “And I have no need for caprioles or any of the airs above ground.” Fabian was trying to put that past life into the permanent past. No more. He had enough at the Spanish Riding School Dave had shoved him into as a “kind gesture of gratitude”. Who did that!?
Fabian picked up one of the heavy saddles, and grabbed a bridle as well, “Feel free to get yourself a saddle and a bridle that would fit one of your horses…Let’s get started. Perhaps you can start with the buckskin?” He instructed, giving a brief smile before heading down to the paddocks.
As Fabian left the boys to get the horses ready, Jarin couldn’t help but laugh, leaning closer to Tuli, “He doesn’t know. They’re both buckskins.” Jarin snickered like he was just the smartest person on the planet. But the laugh didn’t last long as Tuli didn’t understand enough on his own to know what the hell Jarin just said to him anyway… The joke was lost to the gentle breeze.
Maybe it was for the best Tuli was with Abe, anyway. They had pretty much cleared up the whole castle incident. They had both spooked each other, was all. He’d just have to trust Abe was still on good terms with him as he dared not use magic to communicate for two reasons. One, he needed the dark magic curse gripping his chest to heal up. Two, he was pretty sure the magic around him would just sabotage any efforts to make use of it anyway. He didn’t want to cause another scene.
Jarin was easily the spokesman for the two of them as they arrived at the arena with the weird saddles strapped on Abe and Riggy. Jarin spread his stance wide with his hands on his hips, “So what trick do we do first?”
Fabio gave a laugh, glancing up at Jarin, he was pleased to see that he as enthusiastic at least, but he wasn’t totally with it. “The first trick is I want to see how you hold yourself. I assure you, you won’t be doing anything advanced today until you’ve shown you can balance.” He explained calmly to Jarin. Quickly fixing the myriad of straps, showing Jarin as he did so. “The last thing you want to happen is for your saddle to slip while you’re in the air, so these all help in securing it into place.” He explained to him.
“How is your arm and leg strength? Are you able to do a handstand? And how are you on push-ups and so on? You need to be able to hold onto that saddle while the horse is galloping, no matter your positioning, which is where your body’s core strength-” He gestured to his stomach and ribcage “-is incredibly important.”
Jarin smirked, ready to be the manly stud he had been working out to become. “I run for two hours every day! Sometimes more if I had a bad ride! And I do lots of yoga!” Haha, take that. “And Tuli…he’s…” how did Jarin describe the insane acts of…whatever it was he had witnessed… “He…catches his own food so…” Yeah, that was the best Jarin could explain there… Tuli waved again, not understanding the conversation but heard his name. “I’m not too worried about arm strength,” Jarin chuckled. “How does big arms help you trick ride if you're hanging? Don't you dangle your arms? And you said doing a handstand wasn't practical!”
Fabian sighed, apparently this guy was slightly more of an idiot than he had initially thought. “They are impractical when you are on a spinning horse. However, they are a good demonstration of gymnastic ability, and your ability to hold yourself still in the air… as for big arms. You ideally don’t want a fuck-tonne of extra weight and muscle, however, your arms must be sturdy enough for you to hang from the saddle from them, the same goes for your legs. Meanwhile, your abs and stomach, or your core, must be strong enough that you can hold yourself in any given position. It’s no good just hanging from the saddle, you need to be able to move. Which is where your hips, back and stomach come into it.” Fabian explained, giving a wry look. “So, are you capable of doing a handstand? Have you had any gymnastics or dance teaching before?” He questioned calmly, mounting up onto Sebby in the meantime, the stallion standing quietly underneath him.
Jarin had a blank stare. They…were talking about the same thing…right? Sure, he was trying to explain it to Jarin but…what did dance have to do with tricks? He looked about skeptically for a moment. Was this guy for real? He wanted to do cool stuff like he had seen on the internet like fire stuff and cool poses! Not…line dance with his horse. Well. ..maybe it was like running and riding. He couldn't do one without the other. Maybe he couldn't do tricks without the Macarena and tumbling on the floor?
To hell with it. Jarin would bite, “Definitely haven't tried gym…whatever. That’s the flipping and stuff right? As far as dancing…uh…” he probably shouldn't include the dirty dances he only practiced in the shower, He certainly wasn't going to demonstrate them for a near stranger! “Sssssome? Some dancing, I'd say.” He smiled nervously and mounted in the same fashion as Fabian before he could change his mind. That was the cue for Tuli to nimbly hop up on Abe too, just mimicking whatever Jarin did. “I've never tried to do a handstand before but I bet I could if I tried!” No lie detected, Jarin just had that much blind faith in himself.
Fabian looked less than convinced in regards to what Jarin was telling him. “Alright, well, I’d like to see you attempt it…” He was getting the impression that Jarin didn’t quite get why the gymnastics and dance were important, so he sighed.
Jarin stared at Fabian with a blank expression for a tick too long before blinking and snapping out of it! “R-Right! Let’s do it! Okay! Yeah! I will!” He was verbally hyping himself up to…do a handstand. Okay. He could do this. Sure. On the horse? Sure. Why not? He was already up there. Made sense. Maybe? Jarin didn’t know.
He honestly didn't know how to go about starting this.  He never attempted one in his life. All he knew was to put his hands where his feet would be… he scooted back in the weird saddle so he could swing his legs behind him. Here goes…
Tuli tipped his head to the side. What on actual…earth(?) was Jarin doing? “Ah-” Tuli got it. A test of balance and resilience. Perhaps they had to pass this in order to continue. No problem. This was basic 101 stuff. Tuli patted Abe on the withers to let him know there was going to be some movement and shifting of weight. He dearly hoped that was enough to let the stud know there was nothing to worry about.
Tuli easily swung his weight forward, pushing up with his hands and easily lifting his legs into the air. He took a moment to reposition his hands so he could still see what was going on but not before he felt the hoodie start to slide up his chest. In a swift motion, Tuli made a slight jump, landing his weight on one hand and snatched the hoodie tight with the other. He didn’t dare let anyone see the ugly dark magic crawling over his flesh. Just because no one present was a seer didn’t mean Tuli had to paint a target on himself. It would go away. He just had to be patient.
Meanwhile, Jarin was failing in every way he could. Riggy had no idea what the hell was going on up there. What in the what??? Jarin very awkwardly hiked a leg like a dog getting ready to mark a fire hydrant. He felt all of that dense leg muscle slide forward onto his poor arms that weren't built to be the base of his stature. It didn't take much for them to buckle, bashing his face into the saddle, and then tumbling off the side of Riggy into a heap on the ground. He landed flat on his back, wheezing like a spent balloon. That was too much for Riggy who squatted low to the ground and lunged sideways to get the heck away!
Fabian took the whole scene in with palpable scrutiny. Silent palpable scrutiny. What. Was all this??? One guy that didn’t speak hardly at all was suspiciously very nimble and strong. Following around some bumbling oaf now crumpled on the floor after the worst display of athleticism Fabian had ever witnessed coming from a barrage of dense boastful claims. And neither one of them took a half a second to consider maybe NOT on the back of a horse for the first time??
“Ah- I’ve got to take a call.” Fabian bailed out of the arena without another word. He marched straight into his house and dialed up Dave’s number so fast, the phone caught on fire. “Dave…yea…Who exactly is this Jarin kid again?”

hooray, a continuation for Jarin and Tuli xD They're still out there doing the whole trick riding thing! Having a "great time"! Or something lol
At least Jarin's excited lol I mean , he gets excited about anything, really. And Tui just going along with whatever. He's just playing the part to blend in. Perhaps not blending in as well here xDDDD
I miss drawing good ol' shenanigans lololol good ol' wtf is Jarin doing now?? Struggling for our entertainment. Because y'all know he's gonna be awesome once we get his head screwed on right! >: D Look how dressage worked out for him! And western riding! Trick riding is gonna be awesome!   (just gotta survive the training lololol) And heheheheeee Tristan's not around to throw away Jarin's ugly pants >: D heheheheeeeee!!!

Fabian would like to resign now.

I initially was going for a more...idk... coloring book vibe when I started lining this with a rougher textured brush but the second I touched the background, I said nah, actually I want to do soft plastic shading instead. So it clashes a little but whatever xD It's all for fun, who cares~ I don't~ (kind of but i'm not going to bully myself into redoing anything, hell no. this is meant for fun.)
