summary:
Calimari sits and thinks. New lore is introduced and the comic I made is partially explained.

also, let me know if you like it! this is one of the first stories I have released so let me know if you think it is any good! (please don't be mean though)

It was nice outside, the sun was shining, it was hot but not too hot. The grass was glistening in the sunlight and there was a slight breeze blowing so that it swayed. Calimari sighed, feeling the fresh air on her face. If only she could actually go out there. Calimari stopped looking out the window and flopped on the floor next to her flower. She had gotten tired of leaning her head against the window and moping.

Calimari had been grounded ever since she snuck out to participate in april fools. She chuckled to herself as she remembered her cup prank. That kit was so mad. She ran into many other pranks as she headed home, so many that when she finally came home she realized “ CALIMARI YOU HAVE BEEN OUT FOR HOURS” Calimari flinched as her lune’s voice echoed through her memory.

Calimari hugged her tail closer to her body, chuckling to herself as its eyes jiggled placidly. The night she came back from April Fool's, her cheeks grew fur and her worm tail manifested. Her parents yelled at her that night. They were enraged that Calimari dare make efforts to push herself away from them, away from their legacy. She could have fixed it, she could have gotten rid of her upgrades if she just tried hard enough. But nooo, she decided to defy them. When they finally sent Calimari to bed, they began yelling at each other, blaming each other for her disgraceful behavior. Calimari didn’t know that she would get upgrades because she went out. Calimari felt tears prick at the edges of her eyes.

Calimari sighed, trying to change her train of thought. Being grounded wasn’t that bad now that she thought about it. It mostly just meant that Calimari could not leave her room instead of not being able to leave the house. Its not like she left her room a lot anyway. Frankly, her parents liked it better that way. They’d be happy to bring food to her so they didn’t have to have her ‘tainted presence’ at meals. Not only was she ‘colored like a bleeding orange’ but she had such ‘unforgivable traits’ that she clearly intended to taint the pristine bloodline and ruin the family legacy. “Boringest legacy ever” Calimari commented to herself.

Sometimes she pretended not to care, hoping that maybe she eventually wouldn’t care about the stupid legacy she was unwillingly thrust into. However, it was hard to not care when she was regularly lectured on how disgraceful her own flesh was. Luckily for them, Calimari’s parents did manage to have a ‘pristine’ kit just like they wanted. No dark phylactery, no abnormal coloration, perfectly basic without any upgrades or mutations. What a delight.

Calimari looked back at the flower. It was orange, just like her and it had a simple round bulb at the top of its stem. It was sitting in a clay pot she found when she snuck out to bring it back. This plant was the only form of entertainment Calimari was permitted to have as punishment for her ‘defiance’. Calimari had placed it in the square of sunlight left on her floor by the afternoon sun shining through her window. Calimari scowled at the fiery bud. She bet her parents would hate that flower too when it bloomed. It didn’t do anything wrong. “Aaahg” Calimari grunted. She couldn’t get out of her head. “Sleep. I need to go to sleep.” Calimari said, trying to remember the last time she slept. It was too long ago. Calimari floundered over to her bed and flopped down on it.

Calamari closed her eyes and listened to the sound of to outside word floating through her window, allowing herself to sink into her covers. She wanted to be outside so badly. One of these days she would go out there and never come back. She’d think about that tomorrow.
