Alright, I've been working and working on this forever and a day. You have no idea. I got done with Izark and totally got an artist block with Noriko! But I have some people who really want me to post so..... here it is, in all it's unfinished glory! When I'm done I'll update this picture.From Far Away is where these characters come from. I love it! Kyoko Hikawa is the artist and writer.. she's fantastic. I wish more people drew her stuff... *sighs whistlfully*
I'm discouraging critiques because this is not finished. I don't need you telling me what's wrong with it when I probably already know.
But you may post suggestions....

It is, by far, one of the most under appreciated manga out there. It's got a great mix of fantasy and adventure and romance. It's not stupidly dramatic like most shoujo either, which I *really* appreciate. I wish more of the author's work was brought over, because her stuff is good in general.

I totally agree! That's what drew me to it in the first place - it had a really interesting plot, with lots of action and adventure, but it was still one of the sweetest stories I'd ever read! And I just love the fact that they actually deal with Noriko having to learn a whole other language when she gets there - it's so real and interesting! I haven't found any other Shoujo manga yet that could take it's place!! And I would love to read some of the authors other works as well - she's such a wonderful writer!

I also like how Noriko doesn't wail and cry all the time! She's determined to do her best, even when it doesn't seem like much. Ahhh, she's one of the coolest Shoujo main girl characters out there.
And Izark... well, what is there not to like about him, I ask you? Heeeh. >:3

I love that comic! The artist is great and the story doesn't get old and redudent, it keeps moving and getting better.

Wow Nikki, you have spurred me into reading "From Far Away" and I'm loving it. It's just the perfect mix of action, romance and intrigue. Just like escaflowne ^^ This is beautiful and I sincerely hope you do get to finish it ^^ I love Izark, he's a hottie!

Well, I might add that in the full tradition of shojou-based bishonen angst, you should probably give the guy some eye-shadow and glossy lipstick. then give the girl a heart-shaped wand or something. She'll definitly need a tiara or something to set off the full mood of the image. Then set them to a pink-tree background with some transparent shiny ball thingies floating in the middleground.
Yes! This will be the ultimate Shojou drawing!!
Or... maybe you can just ignore everything I just said and finish the picture.

LOL... that made me laugh. One thing I like about Kyoko Hikawa's stuff is she keeps it traditional 80s shoujo, so there's less stupidity and more romance. She's also is fantastic at doing adventures too...
